Have something to add? Missing something? Send me an e-mail!
Wednesday, 5/23 (Season Finale)!
* Right away in the episode I was thinking to myself, “Jack’s behavior is NOT characteristic of him or at all similar to anything we’ve learned about him.” After a few “flashbacks”, I thought, “I think this might be the future.” But then there was the comment about, “If I’m drunker than my Dad, you can fire me.” And I was like, Christian’s dead – so it has to be the past. WRONG! So, is Christian alive or was Jack so drunk/drugged that he forgot he was dead???
* I think that the unattended funeral was for Locke – Drew thinks it was for Juliet. Any guesses? My reasoning for thinking that it was Locke is that a) he was the only person that wanted to stay on the island, b) it was obvious from Jack’s attitude that things weren’t so great post-rescue, and c) Jack would have felt the most guilt about Locke since he did want to stay (and therefore, suicidal after reading the obit). Also – we know that Locke has no friends or family – so there wouldn’t have been anyone to show up. Drew’s theory regarding Juliet is from Kate’s response of “why would I go to the funeral,” since Kate probably holds some resentment towards Juliet.
* BTW – “Hoffs Drawlar” Funeral Home is an anagram for “Flash Forward”
* I knew that Locke couldn’t be dead! Too important! He will definitely be overthrowing Ben now!
* Awesome body-count – especially that it was primarily Others. I was especially fond of Sawyer’s point blank range shot at Tom. Back when they “drew the line”, Sawyer said to him, “You and me ain’t done Zeke,” and that certainly came to head last night.
* I was surprised that in the end, Charlie did die. Unless he was able to hold his breath long enough for the pressure in the mini-hatch to stabilize so he could swim through the porthole. I figure that there’s a 10% chance that he’ll do that.
Naomi – good or bad? Dead or alive? Can’t wait to find out next season! Either way, she lied about being sent by Penny since Penny knew nothing about the boat or rescue mission. I’m thinking that Penny’s Dad sent out the search team in order to destroy Desmond rather than bring him back to Penny.
* Walt sighting – real or imagined? Either way, at least he wasn’t talking through water or backwards.
* Kate – pregnant or not?
* I’m starting to trust Juliet more, it is clear that Ben had lied to others about the Looking Glass Station being flooded.
Jack and Juliet’s kiss! Wow! Nice reaction, Kate!
* The introduction of Danielle and Alex was pretty anti-climactic; hopefully they’ll develop this relationship in future seasons.
Bernard was a wus – but I got over it when Sayid snapped that guy’s neck with his legs. He’s so freaking cool!
* Ben mentioned a “Temple” – interesting to see what this is about.
* I loved when Hurley rode in with the VW bug to save the day. Even better when he was using the walkie to warn the Others. “Others, Hey Others” Pretty darn funny. I also like that Sawyer was downing a Dharma beer in the background when Hurley was talking to Jack.
And the #1 question … are the next 3 seasons going to deal with life after rescue, leading to the alcoholic / pill popping Jack, or will Ben or Locke convince the Losties to stay on the island and therefore change the future?
Wednesday, 5/16!
Greatest Hits – FYI, I watched last night’s episode with my sister, Kate (abbreviated as K below). Some of the below observations are hers:
* Now we know why Danielle was stockpiling dynamite when Locke and Sawyer were at the Black Rock.
* Naomi is certainly benefitting from the island’s healing properties.
* Favorite Line – this time by Sayid, “I’m happy to make a sincere apology later” when talking to Jack – hahaha!
* Hey - Bernard and Rose are still around!
* Alex’s interaction with Carl was pretty interesting. First of all, we know that she strongly suspects that Ben is not her bio-father. Also, the question to Carl made it appear as though Carl could possibly know the truth about her parentage.
* After the big aging/non-aging issue revealed last week, K & I think it’s possible that Carl, like Richard, hasn’t aged and was probably still a 16-year-old kid when little baby Alex was handed off to Ben.
* After Ben told them to kill anyone who got in their way, I think it’s safe to say that the Others are officially not “The Good Guys”, or at least no “better” or “worse” people than our Losties.
* Charlie’s greatest hit #2 involved him saving Nadia’s purse – Sayid’s girlfriend! Nice flashback connection!
* I did think that the robber looked like one of the members of DriveShaft.
* I was very nervous that when Charlie went down to the Looking Glass that we were going to see the Dharma shark!
* BTW – Looking Glass is another reference to Alice in Wonderland.
* Alex was seen gutting the white rabbit – symbolic of destroying Ben’s leader?
* K and I were incredibly nervous as Charlie climbed up into the hatch. So when those two ladies came out wielding guns, I wasn’t too shocked. I didn’t recognize the blond one at all – which was strange given how long they left the camera on her. However, the other one that we didn’t get a good look at resembled Cassidy.
* Any guesses as to why we just saw women guarding this station? Are they safe for baby-making since it’s technically off the island?
* I don’t think Charlie is going to die.
* I’m concerned that separating the group, along with leaving all the weapons at the beach might be a bad thing as all the women get sent to the radio tower ... possibly a trap?
Wednesday, 5/9!
* It was nice to meet the man who would later become the skeleton corpse that Jin, Hurley, Charlie and Sawyer got all boozy with. Of course, I kept hoping he’d pull an Uncle Rico and start selling people Tupperware or making bets, as to how far he could throw a football.
* The Others certainly hold some kind of reverence to Locke. When Ben ordered Tom and Richard to help out Mikhail, they all just watched and let Locke beat the crap out of Mikhail.
* “Not set to a lethal level” – at least we can (probably) say that Locke wasn’t in on the whole Fake Death scene. He likely believed he killed Mikhail. I only point this out because I think on some level, I thought that Locke was possibly in on the scam with Mikhail.
* I think that Ben’s ability to see dead people is what made him appealing to the “Hostiles” or “Natives”.
* Ben has a thing for white bunnies; first #8 when he conned Sawyer and now the little guy he puts through the fence. Maybe the one last night should be viewed as an allusion to the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland ... leading him into another world.
* Is it just me, or has Richard not aged at all? I suppose it’s possible that we’re supposed to suspend disbelief because it was important for us to know just on sight that this was Richard rather than showing us a kid and having to explain it, or I suppose it’s possible that they tried to make him look younger with makeup or something … I just don’t know.
* Maybe the “Hostiles” or “Natives” are actually members of a pilot team from Dharma that was sent there initially to set up camp and prepare the utopian society. However, then Dharma-ites started arriving in droves and changed their purpose to become more scientific, performing all these tests on animals and people. The original pilot team got pissed off and left the compound and became known as the “Hostiles”. I think this because of Richard’s line last week, when he said that Ben had gotten sidetracked on all the fertility testing and that he lost sight of their true purpose. Since Richard was a “Hostile”, I really think he’s a purist and just wanted to get back to the original purpose of being on the island.
* OR - We know that Dharma was formed by Alvar Hanso and the DeGroots … so maybe DeGroot backers became the “Hostiles” while the Hanso backers stayed at the compound. I only lean towards the DeGroots being the “Hostiles” because they were totally the hippies in the Orientation film – and Richard was definitely looking a little Hippie-like when Ben met him for the first time. I just looked at a picture of the hatch door again to see if I could learn anything from it because it has historical dates and there is listed “AH/MDG Incident of 1985” – this could be the incident?? And with the initials meaning Alvar Hanso and M? DeGroot – I am leaning towards this conflict.
* On Ben & Locke’s hike to Jacob, Locke bent down and smelled some grainy, sand-like substance. What is this? It has to be important! Perhaps it’s a salt circle that is entrapping some energy… check out Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_circle
* I think that Ben’s Daddy-issues take the cake – he absolutely *has* to have the worst Dad out of everyone.
* Interesting that Ben had to kill his Dad, just like Locke had to kill his Dad. Is this some creepy rite of passage required by the Others?
* I think that Ben truly felt some sadness about having to let Annie die with all the others. Unless he somehow saved her and we’ll learn more about her later. She definitely played a big role in his childhood, so it would be nice if she was still around.
* Time for the Harry-Potteresque Shrieking House…I don’t know what the heck was going on in here. At first I was convinced that Ben was a total whack job that used his “ability” to commune with Jacob to manipulate the Others; only Jacob was just an imaginary friend. However, when everything started going crazy, there was definitely someone there. I definitely saw a face say “Help Me” and it wasn’t either Ben’s or Locke’s.
* I also think that there was someone there, because Ben was definitely upset and threatened that Locke “heard” Jacob. So threatened that he shot him to protect his role in the Other’s society. Ben knew that he was losing his hold over his people and he had to take Locke out.
* I’m not going to lie – I screamed at the TV when Locke was shot. I really hope he’s not dead. I hope his super-strong faith in the island will save him.
* Juliet is playing a very dangerous game by straddling the fence between the Others and the Losties. Not sure how to interpret what she’s doing.
Wednesday, 5/2!
* Kudos to Joel for figuring out that the real Sawyer was Anthony Cooper. At least, I think it was Joel… I should start saving my old Lost emails.
* The Others are definitely still able to come and go from the island… I know they said that the submarine could leave but not return because of that beacon or whatever signaled them to the island, but they were totally the ones to bring Anthony Cooper to the island. The car accident that Cooper described is totally up their alley. Remember the bus hitting Juliet’s ex?
* After the Others did their research on the Losties, one of them said, “Dude – we gotta go get this guy’s dad and bring him here – that will be a total head trip”.
* I just re-read that bullet and remembered that it’s possible they brought Cooper over BEFORE the hatch blew up and when the beacon thingy still worked. Either way, the Others brought him there and it’s not purgatory or some magic box.
* Why was it so important for Locke to kill Cooper? If Richard was right, and Ben was just trying to embarrass him, why would failure to slaughter a dude cause embarrassment? I just don’t get that? I liked that Richard confirmed to us that they find Locke to be pretty darn special, and the fact that Ben may want to embarrass him to support the theory that Locke may become the new leader of the Others.
* Richard also tells us that Ben has gotten sidetracked with the infertility stuff and that they’ve gotten away from their real purpose – also supports the idea of Locke becoming the new leader.
* Yea! Sayid is back!!! What did Sayid say to Naomi that made her then say, “Remind me not to rescue you, Sayid.”? I forgot to go back and watch that.
* The Hurley, Sawyer, Jin interaction: “Where are you goin’?"...."to take a leak"...."well, um, us too" - hilarious!!
* What is Danielle planning with that big box of dynamite?
* Ben’s line, “Don’t tell me what I can’t do, John.” – John’s favorite line.
* Cooper called Ben, “Bug-Eye”… those con men must really love the nicknames. :) While Bug Eye was funny – it doesn’t match all the great ones that Sawyer uses.
* All that talk about the plane in the ocean with the bodies only further convinces me that it’s all phony. Like I’ve said before, it wouldn’t be impossible for the Others to stage a wreck… but since it’s actually under water, they could have just faked the scans and footage from the contraptions they sent down there to scope it out.
* Am I the only one that finds it surprising that Naomi would even know details on Flight 815? She was totally unrelated to it. She was looking only for Desmond, she wasn’t looking for survivors. I guess what I’m trying to say is that when there’s a plane crash, I don’t remember the number of the flight. Certainly not one taking place overseas. I’m sure that the “why” she knows this is unimportant and the character “needed” to know it just for plot purposes.
* What aren’t Jack and Juliet telling Kate? I think that’s she’s pregnant is too obvious…
* I love that Locke gave Sawyer the recorder… this will be interesting!
Wednesday, 4/25!
* Did I or did I not say that it was possible that Mikhail faked his death???
* Either he faked his death or when John Locke kills things, they come back to life. I’m only saying that “back to life” thing based on the previews for next week.
* I don’t usually comment on the previews… but I will today. Now I know that the advertisers splice these things up and what you see may not actually be what it is really going to happen… but this is what I saw - John Locke tells Sawyer to kill Ben and when Sawyer asks him why him, John says, “Because I can’t”. Initially I thought that John couldn’t morally kill him because he wants to be the new Other Leader, but then I started to wonder if he actually HAS killed Ben, but it just doesn’t take. So, that could possibly mean that he did kill Mikhail, but it just didn’t take. I think I’m stretching here… in the end, I really do think that Mikhail just faked it.
* So, do you think Mikhail was responding to the beacon from the parachutist or to the flare that Hurley fired (“Ooops”)?
What did the parachutist actually say to Mikhail after he fixed her up? I really doubt it was, “Thank you”.
* And what’s the deal with Spanish, Chinese and Italian? She’s quite talented.
* I couldn’t believe that Sun confessed her affair to Juliet.
* I was happy for Sun and that she was happy to learn that she conceived on the island… even if it means she’s only got 2 months to live.
* I wouldn’t be surprised if Kate gets pregnant from Sawyer given that, a) no protection, and the kicker b) 5x normal sperm count.
* I was also glad when Juliet turned off the recorder to say, “I hate you” to Ben. That confirms for us that she really just wants off the island and is basically willing to do anything in order to get off… and that she’s not at all loyal to Ben.
* What’s the deal with Flight 815 being found with no survivors? For argument's sake, I’m going to throw out the purgatory thing. Like, they found the plane and all their remains, but it was in reality and our guys are in some alternate reality walking around (purgatory). Or, someone staged a fake crash somewhere else so that these people would not be found. I’m leaning to the staged crash somewhere. Dharma-Mittelos-Others are pretty inventive, and I could see them orchestrating a phony crash in order to prevent a search party from discovering their utopian-science lab-island.
* As for flashbacks, not sure what they really showed us other than that Sun knew her Dad was a scumbag/mafia dude and Jin didn’t always do Mr. Paik’s dirty work – but was forced to do it when Sun borrowed the money. As for Sun meeting Jin’s Dad and paying off his mom – I don’t know what that was really supposed to mean for us.
(Sidenote on American Idol: No one voted off??? Total garbage! Prediction: next week – Lakisha and Chris will get voted off.)
Wednesday, 4/18!
* We now know the origin of “Brutha”
* I like the “one of us” reference within the monastery
* More religious elements with the Moriah Vineyards wine
* I liked watching Jin tell scary campfire stories in Korean.
* Sawyer’s sweet quotes: “Do you need me to make you a mix tape?” – Hilarious! “If we don’t play every 108 minutes, the island will explode” – super hilarious!!!
* Tiny shout out to Bernard over the Phil Collins tape
* I was glad that Desmond changed his flashes to save Charlie, even at the risk of not finding Penny (even though it turned out to NOT be Penny). I was actually surprised that he saved him - I really thought he was going to let this arrow get Charlie.
* The dudes watching for the anomalies were Portuguese and “Ardvil 22” is Portuguese for “Catch 22”, so I definitely think it's safe to say that the woman in the parachute was definitely sent by Penny and the dudes watching for magnetic anomalies that we saw in the finale last season. I’m glad that this particular story line is coming back around. I really thought it was going to be Penny.
* Penny was picking up 108 cases of wine
* And the best I’ve got is that on the head monk’s desk, there was a photo and the woman in the photo was Ms. Hawking, the woman who almost sold Desmond the engagement ring for Penny – but then she told him that he wasn’t supposed to buy it because he needed to go to the island. But the picture was really strange looking … like her head was cut out of a different photo and propped up against the photo on his desk. And I think the other dude in the photo was the head monk’s – but it looked like a mug-shot or something. Very unhappy looking dude.
A note from last week: HERARAT Aviation = EARHEART
Wednesday, 4/11!
* Last night we got one big answer from last week ... We now know for sure that Juliet dragged Kate into the jungle in order to gain her trust.
* Does Herarat Aviation mean anything? “Her A Rat” like, “She’s A Rat” for Juliet? I know I’m stretching… but since she is a rat, I think it’s plausible.
* I loved the look of relief on Sawyer’s face when he saw Kate come onto the beach. With the way that they’re presenting Jack these days – I’m actually glad that Kate’s kinda with Sawyer.
* I hope that it turns out that Jack is playing Juliet to a certain degree – but I don’t think he is – she’s too good at manipulation.
* While Juliet is definitely still in cahoots with Ben – I do think she is 100% motivated by getting off the island. I think she’s so motivated that she will harvest some more mothers for their procreation experiments in exchange for getting off the island.
* We know that Cindy is still alive – but I wonder if any of the women that the Others took from the tail section have died from forced pregnancies. Of course, I’m not really sure if they took any women from the tail section…
* Ok – now I’m revisiting the people that they took from the tail section… if they supposedly only wanted “good” people – why did they try to take Eko on the first night??? He was a super bad dude!
* Back to last night - the cancer thing is interesting – I had never put it together that the island cured Rose’s cancer but that Ben had the tumor (which was likely cancer, right?) If Jacob really did have the power to cure Rachel’s cancer – why the heck did Ben get sick?
* “I counted Hugo twice” – hilarious, Sawyer!
* As far as pregnant women dying – in the flashback, Juliet said she believed the problem occurred at conception. Since I only trust Juliet in flashbacks, I believe her there. So, I do think that Claire would have been fine either way. As for Sun – it will depend on whether she conceived in Korea or on the island.
* Ethan was totally supposed to take Claire – Juliet’s line about it being an impulsive action was bull. Why? Because it wasn’t a flashback and therefore, you can’t believe a word she says! As for taking Claire – my theory is they were trying to get some antibodies or something from a healthy pregnant woman to give to their pregnant women.
* Creepy that they put something inside Claire that they could “activate”. Ben is quite a planner! “Let’s put this device in Claire that we can activate to make her bleed so that one of us can go in there and save the day – earning their trust so that we can steal all their women of child-bearing age.” When Ben told Juliet, “Maybe we’ll find more mothers” ... I was seriously creeped out.
* “See you in a week” – I wonder how many episodes will take a week? Finale???
Wednesday, 4/4!
* So many things in this episode were "left behind" – Sawyer left Cassidy, Kate’s mom left her, the others left Juliet and the rest of our guys, John left our guys. Interesting stuff.
* Left Behind is a book series about the "Rapture" where all the "good" people disappear from Earth – interesting parallel. Possibly another religious reference.
* John – I don’t really know what to say about him.
* Cassidy and Kate hanging out was a great lostie connection. Cassidy learned a lot from Sawyer, but not quite enough to pull off the gold chain con. Sawyer taught it to her as a 2-man job – she wasn’t doing so well on her own.
* Lucy – Patron Saint of Eye Ailments. Interesting that Kate used this as her alias since she was obviously blind to her mom’s love of Wayne. Perhaps it will turn out that she is blind to other things… like Jack or something.
* Juliet is a freaking liar: A) She acted like she didn’t know the sound of smokey – only she knew the electric wall would stop it and then said that they didn’t know what it was, but that the wall worked. B) She acted as though they were both gassed and cuffed together – but it was obviously that she cuffed herself to Kate. I wouldn’t be surprised if she wasn’t really gassed and the Others just sent her to further infiltrate the Losties.
* Given that Jack and Sayid were just gassed and left in the village – I think that the whole dragging out to the jungle with the cuffs was just Juliet’s ploy to get Kate to start trusting her. If they really wanted to ditch Juliet with the rest of them, why not just leave them all together?
* Juliet had to turn the fence on… was it off when Mikhail went through it and he popped some fancy foam pill into his mouth to fake his death? Or was it just turned off because the Others left their village? How would she know that it was off?
* The bright light flashes that smokey made this time were very different than our past experiences with him. Of course, Locke said that he saw bright light when he saw the "monster"… so maybe the light just changes? It reminded me of a camera flash or something… maybe it was just gathering information…
* Since the electric fence impacted smokey - why didn't the EMP impact it??
* I thought it was interesting that Jack asked if the Others’ also left Juliet behind. It was as though he knew they would have left her. I would love an episode that showed us more of the interaction he and Juliet shared in between leaving the Hydra station and going to the village.
* Kate’s reaction to Jack’s concern for Juliet was priceless. She is so conflicted.
* Kate and Cassidy’s time together quite possibly influenced Cassidy to ultimately turn Sawyer into the police – which we know she did from the time she visited him in prison. It would be great if we got to watch Sawyer figure out that Cassidy and Kate were friends for like a week several years ago and that Kate told Cassidy to turn him in.
* I continue to love Sayid and can’t wait for next week!
* Hurley’s con on Sawyer was great… Sawyer said he had "some hearts and minds to change" – "Hearts and Minds" was an episode from Season 1.
Wednesday, 3/28!
* For the first 5 minutes of the show, I was like, “Am I watching Lost or some cheesy B movie?? Rumpshaker??? Billy Dee cameo???
* Total filler episode – but I found it fascinating. I wish that I had a timeline written down so that I could insert Nikki & Paolo’s scenes into it ... to know exactly what was going on with our people during all of last night’s events. Who am I kidding, I’m sure I’ll do this when I get some time.
* Nikki’s quote on the TV set, “We all know what happens to guest characters.? Pretty funny.
* What was with Paolo’s face right after the crash? What was he looking at? It seemed to me like he was looking at “the light? or something very life altering. Was that look important?
* Seeing a handful of our dead friends (Shannon, Boone & Artz) gives me hope that we’ll still get some answers from the dead. Personally, I’m the most interested in finding out more on Libby.
* I liked that they were the first people to actually stumble upon both Yemi’s plane and the Pearl Station. When Locke and Boone found the plane they were too occupied to see the hatch door there.
* Then again, when Paolo went back to the Pearl, we saw Ben and Juliet there scoping out Jack. And they said that they would need to cover up the hatch again when they left – so perhaps they had already covered it up before Locke and Boone found the plane??? Actually, I just answered my own question – they definitely would have had to go down there BEFORE Locke and Boone found the plane because when the plane fell it blocked the hatch door.
* Therefore, we know that Ben and Juliet’s 5 second conversation would have taken place sometime during the first 40 days, which makes me believe that Ben totally planned out the following: take Walt in order to manipulate Michael, get Michael to give them Kate, Sawyer and Jack. You really only want Jack, but you know the only way to get Jack to do what you want is to get Kate to ask him, but the only way to get Kate to ask him is to threaten Sawyer. That’s an elaborate plan with lots of moving parts. The Long Con.
* My head is starting to hurt.
* I like that Hurley is still kicking Sawyer’s b*tt in ping-pong.
* I was shocked that Charlie confessed to Sun. I didn’t think it was very cool of him to rat out Sawyer in the process.
Part of me believed Paolo when he told Nikki that he didn’t want to tell her about the diamonds because he wanted to keep her, but if that was really true – why did he carry them on himself?
* Spiders are scary.
* Buried alive – now that’s karma.
Juliet and Kate shake down next week!!! I can’t wait!!!
Wednesday, 3/21!
* This is the 3rd thing that Locke has blown something up in the last 20 or so days on this island. What is his deal?!?!?
* Did Jack have a new tattoo, on his left tricep??? I thought I saw a chunk of red when he was talking to Juliet and Ben when Kate, Sayid and Locke were watching them.
* Kate is so freaking jealous of what she’s seeing between Jack and Juliet – I love it!
* I liked Ben’s comment about the electricity being provided by 2 giant hamsters running in wheels. :) he he
* Locke was also on fire with the comments, “You’re in a wheelchair… and I’m not.? And “I hope that box is big enough to imagine yourself up a new submarine.?
* Interesting that Tom gave Jack a little warning when he let Jack talk to Kate. That little signal to remind Jack that they are listening to him. I think Tom genuinely likes Jack.
* Ben is such a sneaky dude. Alex totally called it when she told Locke that he’ll make you think it’s your idea. He so totally wanted that sub to be blown up and he basically handed Locke the C4 to do it.
* Interesting that Ben will now not be breaking his promise when he decides to NOT let Kate and Sayid go ... since his promise was that he would let them go when Jack got off the island. Jack’s not going anywhere – so Kate and Sayid are stuck.
* I’m not convinced that the sub is the only way off the island… but if it is, we’re bound to see Michael and Walt again since they didn’t leave on the sub.
* Glad Sayid was able to add some fuel to Alex’s “I hate my dad? fire with that bit about looking like her Mom.
* I think that the Richard that unlocked Locke’s handcuffs was the same guy that recruited Juliet.
* John’s Dad (Anthony) was drinking the same scotch from Desmond’s episode.
* Is it possible that Anthony is the real Sawyer??? We know that our Sawyer killed someone he THOUGHT was Sawyer – but that it was the wrong guy. We now know that Anthony didn’t just con a kidney out of his son, but was also into conning rich ladies. Sounds very familiar!!
* "Anthony Cooper, Adam Seward" is anagram for "Sawyer, the con man, a poor dad" !
Wednesday, 3/14!
Strong episode. Even though we aren’t getting huge answers – we’re getting mini ones – and that’s enough to satisfy me. If they answer the really big questions – the show is over.
* Loved seeing Goth Claire.
* Loved confirmation that Christian Shepherd is Claire’s dad! I already strongly believed that… so it was nice to get it confirmed.
* While I totally understand that Christian doesn’t want Claire to keep her mom “alive? for the wrong reasons (in fact, I totally agree with him), I think it’s a little insensitive to show up all Vader-like and say, “Claire, I am your father,? and then tell her it’s time to pull the plug. He was obviously right since she’s still just lying in that bed right now.
* BUT – maybe Claire HAD to keep her mom alive in order to spend so much time in that hospital room for hours and hours watching nature shows, which was how she learned about the migration tagging, which led to her idea to put the note on the bird and will eventually save them all. Guilt = Salvation… hmmm… the religious undertones just keep on coming;-)
* I seriously don’t trust Locke. He has always acted a little bit suspicious – but especially in this episode. Saying he didn’t know the station was all C4-ed, only he had a stash of it… throwing Mikhail into that fence…. All that dramatic music. I don’t think that he is an Other, but I think he desperately wants to be an Other. We know from flashbacks that he digs the communal lifestyle. Now that he knows that is what the Other’s have, I think he wants to be one.
* I think it’s possible he knew what would happen to Mikhail if he threw him through the invisible fence. I think he wanted to prevent him from telling everyone that he used to be paralyzed… since he had already come very close to saying it. “The John Locke I knew was para--? interrupted. Does it mean that Mikhail actually knew him??? Or that he just read some reports/files on him??? Like the file Juliet read to Jack??
* I’m not too worried though, as Sayid will figure it out. “We’ll talk about this later? or whatever he said.
* Of course, since Locke didn’t go into the actual hatch portion of the Flame – how did he get the C4??? Did Mikhail hand it to him, thinking they were on the same side?
* Funny when Sawyer had to call Claire, “Claire? instead of some nickname. Notice that Sawyer wasn’t really worth too much screen time when he can’t nickname everyone.
* Using the trees to get over the fence was a swell idea… but how the heck are they going to get back over the fence???
* I don’t think that Jack is an Other – I think he’s just trying to earn their trust and make the best of a crappy situation. The football was awesome! Kate’s face was tragic!
Wednesday, 3/7!
* First and foremost, Sayid is a total bad-a$$ and I love him! The short stirrups, noticing the cat scratching at the rug leading to the hatch door, knowing that Mikhail was lying, taking impromptu bullet removal surgery like a man. All awesome!
* Here is what I think Miss Klugh when she was speaking Russian: “Mikhail, you know what you have to do. I’m wearing a bullet proof vest, shoot me in the chest so that they know how serious we are. I’ll get up in a little bit and ride my short pony to the rest of us and warn them that they’ve discovered the Flame. Do it now! It’s important!?
* When is Locke going to learn that he should never, ever go near the computers??? He’s demolished 2 stations already…
* I don’t know how I’m going to feel about a few episodes with no Sawyer nicknames!?!?
* I really don’t know what we learned from Sayid’s flashbacks. We already knew he tortured people, we already knew he was remorseful about it (in season 1 – he said that he had sworn he would never torture someone again). So what did we learn??
* The cat’s name was Nadia – like Sayid’s girlfriend.
* I don’t think it was the same cat as in the flashback – but I do think that it reminded Sayid to have mercy on people and forgive. Maybe that’s what we learned from the flashback?
* I think that Walt was held at The Flame.
Wednesday, 2/28!
* Personally, I really liked last night’s episode – very much about the characters – and lots of them, which is always a good time. I feel like I could go on and on about all the parts that cracked me up!
* Vincent is a great dog – so happy he’s running around with an arm. I found it hard to believe that rabbit’s foot would still be so white after seeing the condition of Roger. Willing to suspend disbelief, it was cool that it was a classic good luck charm with the whole, “make your own luck? theme.
* I appreciate that they showed us Charlie shaving to explain his clean face after he had to be clean-shaven in the Desmond-centric episode.
* Sawyer – I really love this guy – “Snuffy? and “Skeletor? – two excellent nicknames. And I thought it was great when Hurley tried to give Sawyer one and all he could come up with was “Red…Neck…Man?. Good times.
* Hurley called Starla his girlfriend in the flashback – last time we saw her she was just selling him tunes RIGHT after he won the lotto but it was still a secret. Either he was embellishing his relationship with her in the newscast OR she really hopped on the Hurley bandwagon after he won the lotto. I hope we learn more about this relationship.
* When Hurley’s mom slapped him, she slapped the left side of his face. But afterwards, he raised his right hand and was reacting on the right side of his face. Maybe just an actor screw-up… but it reminded me of my friend, Courtney’s observation about Desmond-centric episode: “One thing I found online regarding the Desmond episode I found interesting...when Des is sitting in Widmore's office, that polar bear painting is on his left, but when they show him look at it, he's looking to his right...AND the word Namaste is backwards!!??!!???
* I thought it was hilarious when Hurley’s mom covered the solid gold Jesus’ ears when she said that she had needs. Hilarious. And gross.
* Where’s the pub on the island??? Beer run, darts on the ground – we’re going to have a party here soon!
* I was very happy to see Danielle get roped back into the storyline. I think she’s a nut job, but I think she has a story to tell… and I’m really, really hoping for a Danielle-centric episode. Let’s learn some more about her crash on the island and the “infection? that took down her crew. I think we’ll learn that the infection was probably the brainwashing… maybe her crew was taken, brainwashed and returned and that’s how she came up with the idea that they were all sick. I think that makes more sense than an actual illness – especially since we haven’t seen anyone else develop any symptoms of any kind.
* I hope Sawyer gives those blueprints to Sayid or someone else that can read them. I strongly believe that they’re for more than a “dirt road? – maybe underground tunnels.
* “Fresh Start? – they say this a lot. Cheech to Hurley, Kate to Sawyer. In the first season, Jack said it to Kate. I’m sure it’s been said other times as well.
Wednesday, 2/21!
* Isabelle the sheriff is a creepy chick
* Very interesting that Cindy didn’t know that Ana Lucia is dead. I’m sure that the Others would know this. I mean, Ben certainly knows since he was there when Michael shot her. I think that it definitely means there is a division between the Others and the people that they have taken.
* We saw that teddy bear that Jin and Eko saw in Season 2…. Ursa Theodorus = teddy bear.
* What was that mark that was branded on Juliet’s back? It’s a new symbol – but did remind me of the drawing on the hatch door. A circle in the middle with the spokes out to the different stations.
* Did anyone else have “An American Tail Moment? when Alex and Carl were looking up at the sky? …“and even thought I know how very far apart we are, it helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star?
* Sawyer’s pep talk with Carl was pretty funny – I love all the nicknames he has for people.
* Interesting to find out that the Others do actually live on the same island as our Losties. That certainly makes more sense when you think about the first episode when they watched the plane separate and Ben sent Ethan and Goodwin to scout it out.
* Was there a freight liner on the horizon as the Others headed off the “experiment? island?
* Why did everyone beat up Jack for getting marked?
* I liked the translation of Jack’s tattoo, “He walks among us, but he is not one of us.? American in Thailand, Lostie among the Others, a Leader among the Losties.
Wednesday, 2/14!
* Did Desmond really time travel? I think I tossed that out as a possibility back when he was running around in the buff (referencing the Terminator).
* Is it possible that in all the time traveling, Desmond and Penelope are somehow the Adam and Eve skeletons in the cave that we saw during the first season?
* Notice the polar bear in the artwork on Mr. Widmore’s wall?
* I had total chills when Finnula Flanagan (Mrs. Hawking) told Desmond that he wasn’t supposed to buy the ring and that it was all wrong.
* Mrs. Hawking also said that he has to go and press that button or else “all of us will be gone? or something like that… but the button stopped getting pushed and aside from the implosion and the purple sky, it doesn’t appear that the world ended. So, I’m really intrigued by this… wondering if the island was somehow immune to the rest of the world ending or something?
* I loved when he saw Charlie and figured out that he knew him.
* Super fun episode!
Wednesday, 2/7
* I was NOT happy that Juliet gave the order to kill Sawyer and Kate if necessary. It was another one of those times when I just didn’t understand her motivation. I still don’t understand it.
* I was glad that Sawyer got a chance to do his “electrocute in water? trick that he attempted in the fall.
* I like that they tried to make us think that Juliet was just treating her sister for cancer… I knew right away that she was injecting her with hormones or something to get her pregnant. What will be interesting is if she asked her sister to be her guinea pig in these experimental treatments and that these experiments actually caused the cancer – or some other illness.
* Sweet Star Wars reference with the “Wookie Prisoner Gag? – yeah, Sawyer, you give props to Luke Skywalker!
* Interesting that Alex thinks Ben is her dad. I wonder if she has a mom among the others, or if she even knows that her mom is the crazy French lady?
* Carl’s sensory overload/brainwashing cell was freaky. I did feel that the images we on the positive side… so maybe they were just trying to make him compliant?
* Will Carl’s brainwashing cause problems for our losties on their island?
* Ethan continues to be super creepy… his longish hair doesn’t help matters (thank goodness he's dead!) He must have been following Juliet around for quite some time for her to ask if him they’ve met before. I know they said hi to each other in the stairwell – but I don’t think that brief encounter was enough to actually find someone recognizable.
* Mittelos = Time Lost (anagram)– the company that was interviewing Juliette.
* Juliet’s ex-husband (Edmund) was a super creep and I can’t believe he asked her to turn off the lights. Her willingness to do so, and also to NOT take the research position with Mittelos really tells us how much of a hold he had over her – for whatever reason. This submissive behavior continued on the island as she became obviously involved with Ben at some point. She must have a thing for small, dominant, mean men.
* I’m glad he was hit by a bus. And I hope we get to find out how they made it happen!
* Whose uterus did they show to Juliet to get her interested in the position they were offering her? It has to be someone on the island, right? I guess we still haven’t met many female others – so maybe we haven’t met her yet. Unless it was Danny’s wife – Colleen?
* Sawyer told Kate earlier that Juliet was the only one he thought would actually shoot someone… and he was right! I’m soooo glad that she killed Danny. He was the most annoying other. And she looked like such a bad *ss doing it. She’s come a long way from that girl in Miami, that let her ex-husband treat her like dirt.
* Can't wait until next week! |
