"The Incident - Part 1 & 2"

FLASHBACKS

Way far in the Past:

  • Spinning Wheel - in the temple.  Weaving on a loom.  I think it's Jacob.
  • An old-school ship is approaching the island… The Black Rock is on its way
  • "Do you have any idea how badly I want to kill you?" - it really is Jacob!  That guy thinks he's going to find a loophole… who is this guy?  And why does he need a loophole?
  • The statue is standing

Est:  1988-91:

  • Clearly, it’s Young Kate and her BFF, Tom – he’s carrying the toy airplane.  The one that she will later break into the vaulted bank to retrieve.
  • As if I couldn’t love Lost enough, they toss in an NKOTB Lunchbox!!!
  • Jacob is there to bail out Kate – he TOUCHES her nose

1976:

  • Young Sawyer - 2 coffins, his parents (he's 8)
  • He's writing the letter to the real Sawyer
  • Jacob shows up, gives him a pen, TOUCHING his hand in the process
  • Some dude tells Sawyer, "What's done is done" – recurring statement

10/20/05:

  • Sayid and Nadia are together when Jacob intervenes.  It's when Nadia was killed.  Jacob totally caused Nadia's death!!!
  • Jacob touches Sayid’s shoulder right after Nadia is hit by the car before Sayid runs into the street
  • Nadia wants him to take her homeL

??:

  • Woman wrapped up in bandages - it's Ilana
  • Jacob comes to visit… he doesn’t touch her

2000:

  • Jacob is reading - Flannery O'Connor - "Everything that Rises Must Converge"
  • It's when Locke was thrown from the window
  • Jacob literally brought him back to life by TOUCHING his shoulder... Locke has basically died 3 times... if you count the gunshot from Ben

2000:

  • Jin & Sun's wedding and Jacob is there... he TOUCHES their hands… and speaks Korean... excellently

2001:

  • Jack is in surgery (his 1st surgery) - it's when he cut the 16-yr-old's spine or whatever... and he counts to 5.  That's the story he told to Kate when they first met and she stitched up his arm.  I don’t think we knew that it was Christian who told him to count to 5.  I think it’s interesting that Jack is angry with Christian for embarrassing him in the surgery, but then goes on to rely on the “Count to 5” advice.
  • Jacob shows up, of course, to give him his Apollo (same as Dharma used) candy bar – TOUCHES his hand when he gives it to him

??:

  • Young Rachel and Young Juliet.  Juliet learns from her parents how to see when something isn't meant to be.

2007:

  • Hurley is getting out of jail - in 2007... I think it’s very interesting that Jacob didn't meet w/ Hurley until so late in the game.  He met w/ the rest of the people before O815.
  • Jacob wants to know why Hurley won't go back to the island.  Hurley thinks he's cursed.  Jacob spins it as blessed instead of cursed.
  • Jacob tells him which plane to be on...TOUCHES him... and leaves him with (I think) Charlie's guitar... fascinating

Conclusion - Jacob's touch is important

1977:

  • On the sub, getting the sedatives.  Kate wants to stop, Sawyer says "no thanks"
  • Eloise is pregnant!  Called that last week.
  • Radzinsky shows up at The Swan site, goes against Chang and starts the drill back up
  • Juliet decides to stay on the island – WHAT?  Big shock!
  • Sayid pulls out the nuke core... b/c he's totally bad *ss
  • Jack tells Richard not to give up on Locke
  • Richard is "protecting their leader" - does that mean that Eloise is their leader and not Widmore?!?!  SOOO interesting!
  • Jack & Sayid march through Dharma with the core, until Roger sees them and shoots Sayid!!!  NOOOOO!!!!
  • Jin & Hurley swoop in and save them.  Sayid cannot die.  Seriously.
  • Kate, Sawyer & Juliet paddle back to the island... Vincent is in 1977!??!!?  With Bernard and Rose and they are not too happy about seeing their old friends.  Bernard is rocking that beard big time.
  • Rose & Bernard are in a very zen place – which is pretty cool to see.
  • Sawyer, Kate & Juliet get in the way of Jack's bus
  • Jack & Sawyer talk for 5 minutes - Sawyer tells Jack the whole murder suicide story of his parents.  Sawyer talks about how he could have stopped it... but yet, he believes, "what's done is done"
  • I think it’s really interesting that Jack thinks that by changing time, he might have a chance with Kate.  She’s going to prison if they safely land in LA.  And it’s not like he’ll know to go introduce himself to her or show up at the prison to chat.  Did he really break them so badly that in this life, they can’t reconcile?
  • Big smackdown between Sawyer & Jack - it's about time they came to blows.  Juliet stops them.
  • Sad *ss breakup between Juliet & Sawyer.  Juliet sees that he still loves Kate and takes her parents’ advice and ends things.
  • Phil warns Radzinsky that someone might be coming
  • Kate jumps on the Jack-crazy-train and agrees to detonate the nuke
  • The bomb has to go off as close to the electromagnetic thingy
  • HOLY CR*P, Miles suggests that the nuke IS "The Incident" and that it’s this bomb that will cause all this stuff to go down... not prevent it.
  • However, to counter that… we know that Radzinsky presses the button in the hatch for a several years, so... if the bomb goes off, he should die in 1977 and not be available for any button-pressing… so, I’m thinking that this bomb is NOT The Incident.
  • The drill won't shut down, the pocket has been hit
  • Jack drops the bomb... and NOTHING happens... my initial thought... that no matter what they do, they can't change stuff.  Kinda like when Michael would shoot the loaded gun at his head… even though it should go off, because it wasn’t “time” for him to die, the bullet wasn’t shot from the gun.
  • The electromagnetic stuff starts happening - Chang loses a hand, Miles actually calls him Dad, Jack gets knocked out, Radzinsky tries to get out, Phil get impaled (whoo-hoo!), Juliet gets dragged into the pit from the chains... the chains freak me out and are reminiscent of the monster chain noises
  • Sawyer holding onto Juliet while she told him over and over how much she loves him was the saddest thing I’ve seen on Lost in a long time.
  • Juliet survives the fall... and sees the bomb... and since she's been cast in the V remake... it detonates – WHITE SCREEN

2007:

  • Locke is heading for Jacob with The Others and Ben confirms that he never met Jacob
  • To Richard, Locke claims he wants to thank Jacob.  However, last episode, he told Ben that he wanted to kill Jacob
  • What does Locke mean about "dealing" with the survivors of the Ajira flight?  Does he specifically mean Ilana’s gang?  Or all the “civilians”?
  • Bram says something about LaPidas possibly "being a candidate"?  For what?
  • They show LaPidas what’s in the box… and he’s distressed about it.
  • Locke just found out that Ben will do whatever he says.  Awesome.  He's going to make Ben kill Jacob.
  • Bram claims to be the good guys… Ben made this same claim when he let Michael leave the island.
  • Ilana’s gang arrives at Jacob's cabin, still surrounded by the ash.  The ash circle has been broken... as a result, Jacob may be vulnerable
  • Ilana says that someone else has been using it.  This makes me think that the house itself must be special.  Makes me wonder if all the visions of Christian had anything at all to do w/ Jacob… probably not?
  • Ilana recovers the statue drawing from Jacob’s house and they head off to the statue remains.
  • Locke brings the Others to the Lostie’s old camp on the beach for a break
  • Ben admits to pretending when he took Locke to see Jacob the first time
  • Locke makes a compelling argument for Ben to kill Jacob – about getting revenge for all the crap that Ben has endured in the name of Jacob.
  • Sun finds the Drive Shaft ring!!!  Yea!!!  I was so bummed when that got left behind in the wake of Charlie’s death and the trek to the barracks.
  • Richard leads the Others to the statue remains... Ilana group will be coming.  Apparently, Jacob lives at the foot.  Weird.
  • Ben goes w/ Locke & Richard to go find Jacob, Richard opens the door, but leaves
  • Locke tells Ben that things will change once he's gone, “I promise” and hands Ben a big knife.
  • Sun wants booze:-)
  • Ilana's gang arrives - and Richard knows the answer to the statue shadow question
  • Richard sees the contents... it's Locke WTH!?!?
  • WHO THE HECK IS DRESSED UP LIKE LOCKE... There have been hints - Richard said that Locke was totally different
  • THAT DUDE FROM THE BEGINNING found the loophole!!  What exactly is the loophole?  Dunno.
  • Jacob tells Ben that he still has a choice... Ben is bitter... what about me.  Selfish.  Ben stabs him, Jacob stutters out "they're coming" and fake-Locke kicks him into the fire.  No more Jacob?
  • What’s really messed up about the Fake-Locke situation is that the Real-Locke based his decisions on what Fake-Locke manipulated.  Fake-Locke is who told Richard to tell Real-Locke that he had to die.

Wednesday, 5/6/09!

1977:

  • Kate & Jack get caught by Widmore, & Eloise wants to talk to them – she believes them
  • Jack is going to try to get Eloise to help him change the future, but Kate is sad at the idea that they would forget each other and lose the good times… she’ll also be stuck in jail since the marshal will be able to deliver her safely.
  • The bomb is buried under the barracks!!
  • Sawyer is always getting tortured.  But Phil ups the game and hits Juliet to get him to talk.
  • Chang watches Hurley leave, and then quizzes him like Hurley's trying to use a fake ID in college.  Hurley caves… and it’s hilarious.  As a result, Chang confirms that Miles is his son and agrees to evacuate the island.
  • Widmore's hand is on Eloise's tummy... is she pregnant w/ Daniel right now?
  • I like that Richard summarizes Widmore and Eloise’s relationship saying "love can be complicated" to poor Jack and Kate who are also living that same thing
  • Chang tries to start the evacuation but Radzinsky gets in the way.  Sawyer works out a deal to get himself and Juliet on the sub by drawing a map to get Dharma to the Others.  I wonder if he drew the real deal.
  • Sayid shoots the guy that would have shot Kate.  Thank GAWD!  I love love love Sayid:-)
  • Jack starts talking about "Destiny" – Man of Science is completely gone.
  • Women and children are getting on the sub - including Baby Miles and Little Charlotte.  And we get to see that Miles' whole belief system about his “dead-beat” Dad is based on the lie Chang told his mom to keep her safe.  I think that was nice for Miles to see.
  • Also on that (this is confusing)… the whole reason why Chang is evacuating the island is because Daniel thought he could change the future.  However, we now know that this evacuation occurred in our current present because Miles has this opinion of his father while growing up.  So… makes me think that Daniel ALREADY tried to change things, but was unsuccessful… and this will turn out the same way.
  • Juliet & Sawyer get on the sub – I was totally convinced that once she went down the ladder, he was going to turn around and go back to the island.  I was pleased when he just said, “good riddance”
  • Underwater tunnels lead to the place underneath Ben's house in the barracks... the pool that helps call Smokey.  Right?
  • Sawyer believes that once they dock, they'll be free.  I love the jokes about betting on sporting events.
  • Kate is leaving on the sub with them!?!?!  Not good.
  • No sedatives for the trip off the island?   Odd.
  • NOW WHAT to do w/ Jughead?

2007:

  • Richard is on the beach with the rest of the Others, Richard is an "advisor"
  • Richard can see a change in John and John informs him that he has a purpose now  - interesting.
  • Richard is going to watch them all die?!?!?!?!  When?  In the H-bomb explosion that has no impact on the Flight 815 and it still crashes?  In the purge??  GAH!!!
  • John takes Richard and Ben to the plane - and explains right there to Richard how he has to tell John #2 to come back with everyone.  SOOOOO - like, I was kinda on board with the whole "you have to bring everyone back" and "you have to die" deal... fully assuming that it was rooted in something between Richard, Jacob and the island.  But NO - it's just John telling John... who knows if it’s the "right thing"?!?!
  • The island told him when/where to be in order to give himself this message, so, maybe it is rooted in the island...
  • John calls out the fact that Ben has never actually seen Jacob… I love when Ben gets knocked down a peg
  • John wants to go see Jacob immediately, he wants to know and expose the secrets of Jacob.  John is taking EVERYONE with him to go see Jacob.  Richard really isn't happy about it.  I am super excited about this development.  I’m fairly certain that the role of Jacob has been cast… can’t wait to meet him.
  • John wants to kill Jacob?!?!?  WTH?  And he doesn’t care about finding the group in 1977??

"The Variable"

1977:

  • Dan saw Jack, Kate & Hurley show up in the photo and decided he had to come back from doing research in Ann Arbor at Dharma HQ.
  • Dan wants to know HOW they got back – and Jack tells him that Dan’s mom told them to come back
  • Dan tells him that Eloise was wrong... they don't belong there (WHY does he think that?)
  • Jack tells Sawyer that Dan's back, but Sawyer is busy with keeping Phil prisoner in the closet
  • Miles drives Dan to go see the Orchid - he looks at his journal and knows that Chang is "right on time" – that’s freaking wild… has he already been in this time and place and it’s documented in the journal??
  • Dan goes down into the construction of the Orchid and we see that it is the same as the beginning of the season ("Because You Left" ep 1) - when Dan goes to see the big wheel.  Dan talks to Dr. Chang (and Dan says that he is part of The Swan team) - and wants them to evacuate the entire island, because in 6 hours there is going to be a huge accident at the Swan station that will be catastrophic
  • Dan tells Dr. Chang he is from the future and that Miles is his son.  Surprisingly, Dr. Chang appears open to this information… but Miles shoots it down.
  • Our guys all meet at Sawyer & Juliet’s house - Options: a) leave on the sub or b) head back to the jungle
  • Sawyer calls Dan “Twitchy” - love it
  • Dan needs to find the hostiles, b/c Eloise is the only person on this island who can get them back to where they belong… interesting.  I’m intrigued that he knows that Eloise is a hostile.  I’m kinda excited that Eloise is still w/ the hostiles at this point.  I wonder if there is a baby/toddler Dan yet?  I would imagine that he’s been born.
  • Security code on the fence is 141717 - Juliet clearly wants Kate gone - Dan, Jack & Kate go to the hostiles, the rest plan to head to the beach (Juliet, Saywer, Hurley, Miles)
  • Dan tells Charlotte to leave on the sub, most likely tells her not to return, right?  BUT they didn't show us... so, I wonder if he told her something different instead - hoping it would make a difference since he appears to be thinking that PERHAPS they can change the future.
  • Radzinsky opens fire on Dan, Kate & Jack.  Confusion, they make it to the Jeep. "Any one of us can die" – ominous thoughts from Dan
  • Radzinsky finds Phil in the closet – hell continues to break loose
  • I can’t help but think that Kate did something to the canteen before giving it back to Dan.  It’s probably nothing.
  • Dan explains to Jack & Kate that there is going to be an accident at The Swan, that will set off the chain of events that will cause the necessity of the hatch, and the button “to contain the energy”, and ultimately will cause O815 to crash.  But, Dan's thinking the past CAN be changed now.  I’m so curious to know WHY he has changed his viewpoint on this??
  • Is it just the new theory that “People are the variables” – and therefore, people can change anything?
  • Dan thinks he can destroy the energy under the Swan and the plane will never crash... by detonating a hydrogen bomb – he needs Jughead
  • Dan wants Richard to give him the H-bomb, Richard recognizes Dan – but can’t place him.
  • Dan gets shot in the back… by Eloise.  Dan’s last words are SOOOO sad, "You knew and you sent me back anyway"

80s?

  • Dan's playing piano and Eloise tells him about "destiny" – Dan knows there were 864 beats on the metronome.  His gift is his mind, for science and math and so she takes away his piano
  • Dan says, "I can make time" - funny

Mid-90s – Graduation at Oxford (by 1996, he’s a professor at Oxford)

  • Dan introduces Eloise to Theresa (he will eventually cause Theresa to be unstuck in time, as we saw in “Jughead”)
  • Dan tells Eloise that Widmore is the donor sponsoring his research - she definitely has a reaction
  • Eloise gives him the journal… very important gift

 2007 (Pre-Freighter):

  • Dan watching the fake footage of finding O815 & crying
  • Visitor - Widmore - Dan claims to have a condition that affects his memory, turns out he tested his work on himself before Theresa.  Maybe his constant (Desmond) helps him not be as impacted as Teresa?
  • Magazine on the chair - "Wired - The Impossible Gets Real"
  • Widmore tells him that they're not dead - that the plane is fake – and confesses that he only tells him this because Dan will forget this conversation
  • Widmore tells him that the island will heal his memory (remember him playing card memory games w/ Charlotte last season on the beach... he was still having some issues)
  • Creepy ass music when Widmore says he's old friends with Eloise
  • Dan's playing piano, just as good initially - but either a) forgets because of his memory is all messed up or b) pretends to suck when his mom walks in the house b/c he doesn’t want to disappoint her
  • Eloise urges him to accept the position… the look on her face is so interesting… she’s determined, but with sadness (as we now know why… she knew she that by convincing him to go… she would be killing him… literally)

2007 (Post Ajira Flight, in LA):

  • Desmond is being rushed to the hospital
  • Eloise Hawking shows up shows up at the waiting room and blames the shooting on her son, Dan
  • Eloise no longer knows what is going to happen (this is very interesting… like, maybe something HAS changed that has taken away her “gift” as I presume she one)
  • “This nurse will watch your son” – okay, so, it turns out nothing happened… but I was super worried that someone (Eloise) was going to grab little Charlie.  I suppose that something could still happen.
  • Widmore is waiting outside the hospital and talks to Eloise – it’s clear that Eloise is upset about making sacrifices (Dan) and Widmore shocks us all with “don't you talk to me about sacrifice, he's my son too!!!”  Dan is Widmore's son?!?!  I wonder if Eloise is Penny's mom... even though they told us that Widmore was banished for having a family with an "outsider" (among other reasons)… maybe they really just wanted to keep Penny’s mother’s identity a secret from the rest of the others.

"Some Like it Hoth"

1977:

  • Sawyer needs Miles to erase the camera feeds, and Miles is supposed to erase camera feed #4.
  • Horace comes down to the security room, interrupting Miles in his attempts to destroy the evidence.  Horace brings Miles into the "Circle of Trust" and instructs him to take something to Radzinsky in Grid 334 - which is "hostile" territory and is supposed to bring something back
  • A DEAD BODY!?!?!
  • Returns to Horace, and is instructed to take the body to DR. CHANG at the Orchid Station!
  • Hurley thinks he can prevent global warming:-)
  • Roger sees that Ben isn't there - Juliet says that she doesn't know why he's gone
  • Juliet is so cool - turns on those tears, totally normal when he leaves and "here we go"
  • Interesting that Hurley is the Chef and in charge of food again - that was a position he hated back when the hatch was found
  • The dead body is farting
  • According to Miles, the dead guy is Alvarez, who was digging a hole and thinking about Andrea when one of his fillings ripped through his brain?  Something to do with the strange electromagnetic action on the island???  Not really a gunshot??
  • Hurley totally calls the whole, “I talk to dead people” gig and is cool with it... and tells him that he talks to dead people too.
  • Kate tries to comfort Roger, but instead makes him suspicious
  • Hurley - "You're just jealous my power is better than yours" HAHA, Hurley is in excellent form in this episode.
  • Dr. Change threatens to ship Hurley off to Hydra Island … to do stuff w/ polar bear poop
  • NICE - Miles KNOWS that Chang is his father!!!  Well done, Joel, for calling that after the first episode.   Oh so many daddy issues here.
  • Jack & Roger meet up in their janitorial duties and Roger asks him about Kate.  Roger thinks that Kate has something to do with it and he wants to go to Horace and report her.  Jack talks him out of it.
  • Chang needs to go to Radzinsky so they all hop in the Bus.  Hurley is doing the legwork for Miles - so cute.  Even if it is totally p*ssing off Miles.  Construction of The Swan is hidden by leafy fence.  They're building the hatch and they rattle off the numbers... and Hurley is freaking out.  “They're building the hatch that will crash our plane.”
  • Hurley is writing Empire Strikes Back:-)  Too freaking hilarious.  Hurley shares his daddy issues with Miles.  Compares Miles to Luke.  The Ewoks did suck.
  • Phil comes to get Sawyer - there's a development... he knows that Sawyer took the kid.  Sawyer invites him into the house and knocks him out and ties him up.  Good… b/c I don’t like Phil.  He’s creepy.
  • Miles goes to see the Changs.  And sees his baby self in a giant Dharma-logo baby shirt (I wonder if they sell those yet).  And Dr. Chang appears to be a loving father… wonder whether he truly abandons them or if the Mom just escaped?
  • Takes a phone call, and needs Miles to go with him - they go down to the dock to pick up a group of scientists returning from Ann Arbor.  Daniel is on the sub!!!   (So, he was gone less than 3 months – he was there in the season premiere when Miles was born)

Mid 80s - Miles is a kid:

  • Microwave - time 3:16
  • It's just me & Miles - father is no longer in the picture
  • Room 4 - scary dead people images
  • Ceramic bunny hides the key
  • Miles reveals that he hears the dead Mr. Vonner calling out for Kimberly who died last year.  His mom is totally freaked out.

90s - Miles is late teenager?:

  • Room #7 - goes to see his Mom
  • He wants to know why he can talk to dead people, and also why she won't talk about his father - she tells him that he's dead, claims that he kicked them out when Miles was a baby.  And that he’s dead now (which is probably true, assuming he dies in the purge)  Somewhere you can never go - THE ISLAND!

Likely 2004:

  • Gets hired by Mr. Grey to communicate w/ his dead son, Russell
  • Grey just wants to know that Russell knew he loved him
  • Miles is scamming at this point, don't you think?
  • Right after leaving, Naomi comes to recruit him
  • Takes him to a restaurant kitchen for an "audition" – Dead guy is Felix and was delivering something to Widmore, papers & photos of empty graves and a purchase order for an old airplane.
  • Miles was brought along to talk to dead bodies on the island in order to locate Ben.  Offered $1.6M to go on the expedition.
  • Miles grabs a burrito and gets nabbed by scary black van.  HOLY CR*P – it’s BRAM!!!  FYI – Bram is buddies with Ilana.  Bram attempts to talk him OUT of working with Widmore.  Miles says sure, if they double his fee to $3.2M – which is the same amount he attempts to bribe Ben with last season.
  • Bram says the “What lies in the shadow of the statue?” line.
  • Bram knows about his father and points out the pain that Miles still feels.
  • They toss him out and let him know that he's playing for the wrong team and Bram claims to be on the team that's going to win.  Soooo – it makes me think that there are 3 teams.  Bram is clearly not with Widmore, and I think that he would have recognized Ben on the flight… meaning, there has to be a 3rd team.  Great… like this isn’t confusing enough.
  • Miles goes back to Mr. Grey to return the money.  He admits to lying to him, "if you needed your son to know you still loved him, you should have told him when he was still alive."  HARSH, but true.

“Dead is Dead”

1977

  • Jacob wanted Ben healed, Widmore is NOT happy about it - but the island chooses who the island chooses
  • Widmore & Ben meet for the first time when Ben is just a kid – FASCINATING to see the two villains of the show meet for the first time.  Actually, I think it may be the first time we’ve ever seen them together throughout the course of the show.

2008

  • While Locke is at Ben’s bedside, Locke is in complete shadow and you can’t see him in the profile at all - so interesting
  • Ben tells Locke that he believed that Locke would be resurrected on the island – but that it is still a shock to see it come to fruition.
  • Ben says that he returned to the island to be judged for breaking the rules – The Judge is "The Monster"
  • Ben talks to Caesar and tries to convince them that Locke wasn't on the plane and was already on the island.  Scheming bastard.
  • Ben's old office is on the small island?   Weird.
  • Ben claims that he killed Locke because it was the only way to get him back on the island, because it was in the best interest of the island.  Pssh- whatevs Ben.  I don’t trust you.
  • Locke wants to be there when Ben gets judged
  • Ben shoots Caesar and expects the action to suffice as his apology for killing Locke.  Scumbag.
  • “Friends can be significantly more dangerous than enemies, JOHN”
  • Locke questions whether the Others s/ have moved into the barracks when Dharma was exterminated… this is an interesting observation.
  • The board game Risk is on the table in Ben’s house – which is likely just set up from 3 years ago when Hurley, Sawyer and Locke were playing when Keamy’s team attacked.
  • Lights are on in Alex's old room... Sun is in there – waiting for Locke per Christian’s instructions
  • Ben claims to have no memory of Losties being in Dharma in 1977... hmmm... I’m thinking he’s lying.  It’s one thing for him not to remember them pre-Temple, but he returns to Dharma at some point, so unless they leave before the Others return him – he will remember them.
  • How do we find Jin?   Still no answers – but Locke has ideas.
  • The way that Ben and Locke speak to each other with such condescension is HILARIOUS
  • Ben can summon it - which was suggested last season, when Smokey arrived at the barracks to take out Keamy's men.  And to do it, he goes thru the secret closet door, down the steps, thru a tunnel, hand into water, pulls the plug and speaks into a hole in the ground.  Bizarre.
  • Ben is telling crazy things... he earlier said that he believed Locke would come back and now he's telling Sun that he didn't expect it and that it's scary.  I hate him.
  • Locke claims to know where the monster is located, because he "just knows" - to The Temple.  I love how ticked off Ben is that Locke knows more than he does!
  • They're going under it - that's the same hole that the French scientists got sucked into - that made them crazy.  But really, now that we know what Richard said – I think it just took their innocence and made them belong to the island.  So, they weren’t “infected” per se, but had become “Other”
  • Ben asks Sun to pass along an apology to Desmond – presumably for killing Penny?
  • LaPidas returns and someone tells him that Ilana and the others found guns and claim to be in charge now - and they ask, "What lies in the shadow of the statue?"  I knew she knew more than just catching Sayid and taking him to Guam... in fact, I’m betting that accepting the job to catch Sayid was just a ploy to get on that plane and onto that island.  Does she work for Widmore?
  • Ilana orders Bram to tie up LaPidas because they’re taking him with them – wherever it is that they’re going.
  • Ben falls through the sketchy floor into a basement-like room - hieroglyphics on the walls, not surprising given the giant statue is likely of some Egyptian origin.
  • We see a drawing of a creature (that looks like the proposed statue) talking to smoke monster
  • Monster oozes - he sees flashes just like Eko did - but it looks like the person seeing the flashes actually gets them in slow mo rather than the lightening flashes like when we watched Eko see stuff.  And as we suspected back then, Smokey shows you your sins.
  • Alex is there, and tells him that if he kills Locke again, she will hunt him down.  Tells him that he must follow Locke from now on or she will destroy him.  AWESOME.

1989

  • Ben is on the look-out with a young Ethan and finds Rousseau – I’m very interested to know how/why Ethan survives the purge… note, however, that this is pre-purge.  Interesting… does that mean that Ben raised Alex with Dharma for a little while???  He didn’t defect completely until the purge.  Hmmm….
  • Ben takes Alex and claims that Alex will live now and that Rousseau should run away from the whispers
  • Charles is aging, but Richard isn't – I’m dying to figure out what makes Richard so special.  I speculate he was around when the statue was still standing.
  • Ben’s order was to kill Danielle – but he didn’t
  • Drew doesn't understand why Charles is in Charge… of our days and our nights.  Snort.

Early 1990s – I’d guess 1993-1994 based on Alex’s size, definitely post purge (which was Dec 1992)

  • The sub is about to leave and he goes to say goodbye to Charles and Charles is in cuffs
  • Penny’s Mom is an “outsider”
  • Per Charles - someday, the island will want Alex dead and then Ben will be banished too.

2008 Pre-crash

  • Good job Jamie - you called it… looks like Ben’s intent is to kill Penny.  But does he succeed?  He certainly hesitates when he sees young Charlie (I still think that young Charlie Hume will become rocker Charlie Pace)
  • He shot Desmond!
  • Desmond tackles him and beats the crap out of him, tossing him into the water.  GAH!!!

"Lost - Follow the Leader"
Wednesday, 4/1/09!

(different font / style this week, as we're updating remotely from AZ vacation)

"Whatever Happened, Happened - #11"

1977:

·        * Jin inspects Ben’s body – Ben is still alive

·        * Horace knows there is someone on the inside

·         * Roger talks to Kate – Roger seems to like Kate and Kate has a visible reaction to the “Linus” part

·         * Roger actually seems concerned about Ben

* ·    Sawyer is checking security cameras – Kate is nosey as usual

·        *  Janitor’s keys – Roger, Willie & Jack are the options for letting out Sayid.

·         * Sawyer wants to lock-up Kate, Jack & Hurley so that they won’t talk to anyone

·         * Sawyer sees that it’s Roger that is missing his keys

·         * HOLY MOLY – Juliet is helping to keep Ben alive!!   And now they need Jack’s help.

·         * Hurley brings up the Back to the Future thing – Miles puts out there that they were already there in the past, even during their already experienced future.

·        *  Jack doesn’t want to help Ben – awesome

·         * Jack:  “I’ve already saved Benjamin Linus – and I did it for you.” – maybe the island wants him dead, and he interfered the first time

·         * Kate tells Juliet that she and Jack were engaged during the off-island time

·         * Roger knows that Ben stole his keys to bust out Sayid.  Roger blames himself – and confesses to be a terrible father.

·         * Hurley and Miles discuss the whole time issue.  Hurley stumps Miles with the whole – “wouldn’t Ben have recognized Sayid” – personally, I think that Ben DID recognize Sayid… but he wouldn’t want to tell Sayid that.   Hmm… new possibility below…

·         * Maybe there is something that the Others can do to save Ben!?!?    So Kate & Juliet sneak him out of the barracks and Kate takes him to the jungle

·         * Ben, thinking he isn’t going to make it, wants to apologize to his Dad for stealing his keys.

·         * Sawyer comes to help Kate – and calls her “Freckles” for the first time since she’s been back

·         * Sawyer tells Kate that he’s helping Ben for Juliet – interesting since Jack saved Ben for Kate.  Ben keeps getting saved thanks to the women around him that influence the guys that make a difference

·        * Juliet waits for Jack to hop out of the shower – Not Ben yet, he’s just a kid

·         * Jack’s purpose of returning - because he was supposed to.

·         * Kate tells Sawyer a little bit about Clementine.  Sawyer tells Kate that they would have never worked out and that he’s grown up a lot to explain his happiness with Juliet – and he genuinely looked happy when talking about her.

* ·     *   I love when they pull the Richard Alpert card – remember that Sawyer already has talked to Richard (at least once) when he first landed in the 70s and told him about Jughead and Locke in the 50s… so, I’m guessing they have a special understanding.  It will be interesting to learn if Sawyer and Alpert have had a few meeting over the past 3 years.

·         * Richard is aware of Benjamin Linus and indicates that by helping him, he will be taking away his innocence and that he will always be “one of us”.   Richard mentioned something about Ben not remembering stuff – I wonder if his entire memory will be wiped – which could explain why he didn’t recognize 2004 Sayid as the man that shot him.

·        * One of the Others warns Richard that they shouldn’t help Ben without first consulting with Ellie or Charles – but Richard responds that they aren’t in charge of him.  I like this development.  It looks as though Richard will definitely be taking a pivotal role in ousting Charles & Ellie.

·        * Richard takes Ben to The Temple.

2004/2005:

·        * Kate, wearing an awesome scrunchie, is back home

·         * She goes to see Cassidy and of course Cassidy knows that she’s O5.  Kate tells her that Sawyer sent her and I got all goose-bumpy

·         * Kate tells Cassidy the truth about what really went down on the island

·         * Cassidy can tell that Kate loves Sawyer, she can also tell that Aaron isn’t Kate’s son – she’s so good at detecting truth/lies, thanks to Sawyer teaching her so well

2007/2008:

·         * After Kate leaves the docks, she’s at the grocery store and loses Aaron – Aaron was walking w/ a blond woman who I thought might end up being Claire… no go.

·         * How is it daylight when she got to Cassidy’s house in the same clothes??   Clearly, Kate has a good relationship w/ Cassidy and Clementine.

·         * Cassidy tells Kate that she used Aaron to fix the broken heart that Sawyer gave her

·        * Kate goes to Claire’s mom (Carole Littleton) and tells her that Aaron is her grandson and that Claire is alive on the island (WHAT?)

·        * Carole was in a coma at the time of the O815 crash.  Even if Kate did want to take Aaron back right away, I don’t think she would have been able to…

·        * Kate’s purpose to returning to the island – Find Claire and bring her back to her son.    Honestly, I didn’t think that Claire was still alive after she was chatting it up with Christian last season.  Hmm...

Island – Present Day:

·         Locke is waiting for Ben to wake up – Welcome back to the land of the living.

"He's Our You"

Tikrit, Iraq:

  • Young Sayid kills a chicken w/ his bare hands for his older brother, reminds me of Eko/Yemi relationship
  • Always a killer!

1977:

  • Young Ben brings Sayid chicken salad... hehe
  • A Separate Reality book from Ben
  • They can see, but they can't hear.  Four years ago was when Ben talked to Richard!
  • Horace comes to see Sayid and removes the handcuffs, playing “good cop”
  • Juliet thinks they're over... does she mean just her and Sawyer, or the overall scam?
  • Sawyer wants Sayid to join the party in Dharmaville.  Sayid wants to go alone, has no desire to be near Ben.
  • Kate was in such denial – shocked that she didn’t realize that Sawyer and Juliet are together.
  • Roger - Ben's Dad AKA Lazlo/Uncle Rico, comes in to feel like a big man and attempts to mock Sayid for getting captured; no go, Sayid slams him for cleaning up Dharma crap.  Even behind bars, Sayid is awesome.
  • Sayid gets to see a different side of Ben – a boy beaten down by an unloving father.
  • Sawyer allows him to be taken to Oldham, cr*p.  I'm surprised he even allowed it... too risky for exposure.
  • Drug takes effect - says he's a bad man, came on a plane, asks “how's Sawyer”, starts rattling off about the stations - some that aren't built yet, tells them they're going to die, tells them he's from the future... and of course they don't believe him.  This was probably my favorite part of the episode.  Sayid is always in control and it was kinda fun to see him be completely honest and have no one believe him.
  • Horace holds a meeting over what to do w/ Sayid.  Radzinsky totally wants him dead. Amy wants him dead.
  • Radzinsky said something about calling Ann Arbor to make the decision if they can't?
  • They vote to kill Sayid - pressure Sawyer into it too
  • Sayid knows he has a purpose now... I think he thinks it is to kill Ben
  • Why did you come back?  Kate didn't get a chance to tell us why she came back, but after this episode, we’re definitely going to see the individual stories bringing back the O5.
  • Burning VW Bus rolled into a house – Ben clearly set up the fire so he could go see Sayid.  And Sayid is totally waiting for him.  Starts to earn Ben's trust!  Effing AWESOME!
  • They bolt - van drives by, it's Jin.  Sayid punches him out.  And shoots Ben.  Ben's not dead dudes.  The island isn't done with him.  It's like all those times that Michael tried to kill himself.  He’ll just stand up in a few minutes.

Moscow:

  • Sayid kills the man in Moscow and meets up with Ben afterwards, Ben tells him that they're done killing all the people that posed a threat to his friends – people in Widmore's organization
  • What do I do now?  Go live your life.  Sayid just seems so lost and confused.  Purposeless.

Dominican Republic:

  • Ben returns to him, let's him know that Locke is dead - "Thinks he was murdered" - what a joke
  • Ben tells Sayid that someone is watching Hurley
  • Sayid claims - "I am not what you think I am" – a killer.  Only to recant it later to young Ben.
  • Ben leaves without Sayid, but clearly, Sayid returned to protect Hurley

Los Angeles:

  • We’re back at the pier before the flight with all O6 - Sayid says to Ben, "If I ever see you again it will be extremely unpleasant for us both" – um, yup.  Sayid just shot his young *ss.
  • Sayid is putting back MacCutcheon Scotch – nice, this is Widmore’s favorite scotch~
  • Interesting... we meet Ilana – who will bring him on the plane in the cuffs
  • Wow – Sayid the bad*ss gets taken down my Ilana the bad*ss.  She was hired to bring him to Guam by the family of the guy he killed last season
  • When Sayid questioned if they were really going to Guam, Ilana seemed kinda like she knew that Guam wouldn’t be their ultimate destination… didn’t she?

Wednesday, 3/18/09!

"Namaste"

Present Day:

  • White light, immediately crashing – although the plane is still in 2007, they still underwent some degree of time flash as it was nighttime when the turbulence hit and daytime when Frank is steering the plane to the runway
  • The co-pilot’s mayday call was only met with the numbers… which is interesting because Rousseau recorded over these with her distress call.  So, someone rerecorded the numbers.
  • Interesting that Frank used the runway that Sawyer and Kate helped build in Season 3… they questioned it at the time.  I wonder if they somehow knew that in 3 years, it would be needed to facilitate a crash landing.
  • Co-pilot impaled.  Ouch.
  • Sun didn't skip!!!!  This was my prediction after “Life & Death of Jeremy Bentham” (“LDJB”).  Why?  Maybe Jin’s wedding ring wasn't enough for her to “recreate” the original flight?
  • Ben’s supposed to be injured (as seen in LDJB)… oh look, Sun just bashed him on the side of the head with a paddle.  Ben should consider himself lucky… when the paddle to the head happened in “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” Jude Law wasn’t so fortunate.
  • Anyway, before the injury - Sun follows Ben, and gets to manipulate him by saying, “I have to trust him.” Finally, I like the new Sun.
  • Frank & Sun go back to the main island and Smokey greets them (I was totally preparing myself for Frank to get taken by Smokey, just like O-815’s pilot), along with whispered voices and the barracks look totally deserted... and Christian is there.
  • Christian continues to serve as a guide and shows Sun a picture of Dharma in 1977.  “You have a bit of a journey ahead of you.”  Well, hopefully that means that it is a journey that is possible!

1977:

  • Sawyer called her Kate - probably for the first time ever.
  • We're in the Dharma Initiative... it's 1977!!
  • If a plane landed on the island - Radzinsky will know.  He's at the Flame station (the one later run by Mikhail and blown up).  FYI - we’ve heard about Radzinsky before.  He was partnered with Kelvin Inman, down in the Swan Station (the hatch) pushing the button for ages – he is the one who drew the hatch door map.  He also committed suicide in The Swan.
  • Juliet recommends the sub as the cover for their arrival.
  • Juliet takes the sub manifest from Amy - it's ETHAN.  So cool.  It totally freaks Juliet out a little bit.  It will make meeting little Ben even MORE creepy.
  • Sawyer is SO "take charge" now - it's awesome.
  • Hostile inside the perimeter – of course it's Sayid - Jin has to get all Dharma on him.  Is it odd that Radzinsky didn’t question his cuffs??
  • Farraday isn't there anymore???  WHAT HAPPENED???  He was in the season premiere!  Do you think he got too close to the wheel at The Orchid and skipped off the island?
  • Jack actually gets to meet Pierre Chang/Marvin Candle – which was totally cool.  Even better – getting assigned to be a janitorJ
  • The Kate vs Juliet show down was awesomeI kinda think that Juliet omitted her on purpose – in order to demonstrate her power among Dharma.
  • How in the world are they going to make Sayid OK to the rest of Dharma?
  • I don't trust Phil – at all.
  • Goes to Sawyer's house... Juliet answers, of course.
  • They were a little hostile to each other.  I don't like it.
  • Someone brings Sayid a sandwich.  It's totally BEN!!!  So Awesome!  So, Kate called it last week, creepy boy Ben is totally going to become infatuated with Juliet.

"LaFleur - Episode 8"

Island time:

  • This first skip that lost John landed the Losties way earlier in time.  The statue is still standing!!!  Awesome!!!!  Damn, they skipped before we could see the front of that thing with four toes.

Island - 1974:

  • This was a different kind of skip.  The well is back, but appears to be refilled.  The headaches are gone, no more nosebleeds.  It's over, no more skipping.  John had to get that wheel to stop bouncing.
  • Charlotte's dead body didn't skip.
  • Dan is saying, "not going to tell her" - maybe b/c she told him that he warned her in the past but that it made no different, maybe he's hoping that by not telling her, it will be a tiny enough change that she doesn't return to the island. ??
  • Amy is on a picnic w/ Paul when they get attacked by a couple of hostiles.  Paul is shot - and dead.
  • Sawyer & Juliet intervene, killing two hostiles.  They need to bury the hostiles b/c of a "truce" and Amy wants to take Paul back home.  I believe that Patchy/Mikhail mentioned a truce back when he was talking to Locke at The Flame station.
  • Amy gets a little freaked out when she realizes that Juliet knows something about the sonar fences.  At the fences - she takes something out of the box.  Ear plugs.
  • The rest of them have reactions similar to Mikhail from Season 3.  Well, perhaps not quite as violent, but he indicated that it was at a non-lethal setting – so, Amy obviously adjusted the fence to “non-lethal”
  • Horace is there – refresher – Horace was present when Ben was born (with his wife, Olivia), and he’s the one who gave Roger (Ben’s dad) a job w/ Dharma.  A dead Horace spoke to Locke.  So… I wonder what happens with Olivia if he’s later involved with Amy?
  • Sawyer is awesome.  He works in the Black Rock, works in the whole “some of our crew went missing” – hinting that they were taken by hostiles.   Nice con.
  • Horace offers them a chance to get off the island via sub.  He says only Dharma is allowed - and that they aren't Dharma material.
  • I loved when Dan said that they’re, “Not on the song they want to be on.”  He sees a little Charlotte.  However, this doesn't make sense age wise.  They’re in 1974, but Charlotte was supposedly born in 1979.  Perhaps when she’s taken off the island, they end up in a different time, so her birth year is adjusted accordingly?
  • The alarm is going off.  The Losties are handed off to someone named Heather.  Richard got through the fence.  Juliet is NOT happy to see him.
  • Horace goes to talk to Richard.  That fence doesn't work on the Hostiles.  Very interesting.  But it did work on Mikhail.  Hmm…  It does work on "other things" - like Smokey
  • Sawyer goes to Richard and tells him about Jughead, John Locke.  Richard is clearly intrigued.  Why would Richard want Paul's body???  Creepy.
  • Have we seen that necklace before?  Or is it just used at the catalyst to getting Horace drunk.
  • After all the crazy events of the night, Horace tells Sawyer stay to look for his crew.  Juliet wants to leave anyway.  Sawyer convinces her to give him 2 weeks to see if things will change with whatever Locke left to go do.

Island time - 1977

  • Sawyer is Head of Security and is going by Jim LaFleur.  LOVE IT!
  • Picks up Miles – who also works security.  They definitely seem to have a close relationship.
  • According to Sawyer, Horace is the fearless leader of Dharma – he’s hammered and blowing up trees?
  • Amy is pregnant and goes into labor.  The intern explains that the babies are always delivered on the mainland.  He doesn’t know what to do.
  • Sawyer gets a determined look and asks a guy working on a truck  - who looks an awful lot like Roger, Ben's Dad
  • He pulls Juliet from under the car to go deliver the baby - she’s concerned about sticking to the story.
  • Jin's accent is getting better and his hair is pretty sexy
  • Jin & Sawyer briefly discuss the fact that they’re still looking for their people to return in some kind of grid fashion.  Cool.
  • The baby survived - it's a boy.  Who will it be??  Goodwin?  That would be hilarious - Goodwin Goodspeed.  Or Ethan?  Or will the boy just die in the purge?
  • I love Juliet's hippie hair.  AND YEA!!!  They’re in love!!!
  • Sawyer waits out Horace's hangover – And Horace asks him if 3 years really long enough to get over someone?  Sawyer tells him a little story about Kate and says he can barely remember what she looks like... and she's never coming back.
  • Jin calls him when he's in bed w/ Juliet.   He’s not honest with her.  Crap.
  • Crap - he sees Kate.  Goes all mushy looking.  Poor Juliet – is she going to be “the other woman” again?

My biggest concern at this point is that I want our Losties to get away before The Purge in 1992.

Wednesday, 2/25/09!

My expectations for this episode were clearly too high, because I was quite disappointed.  I was really hoping for more information that led to each O6-er deciding to return to the island.  Perhaps this is still coming.

To make up for the crappy episode and lackluster bullet points, I will share a theory from Joel:

Kate got it on with Jack in order to get pregnant, her way of making the circumstances of the flight as similar to the original.  This would explain her lukewarm attitude with him the morning after.

So, the efforts to recreate the original flight:

Jack – bringing along a dead body
Locke – is the dead body, like Christian
Sayid – prisoner like Kate, in cuffs
Hurley – brings a guitar, like Charlie
Kate – is pregnant? Like Claire
Sun – unknown???  Jin’s wedding band?

"The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham"

Locke's present day:

  • It's the guy who offered his condolences to Jack last week!!!
  • Caesar is the guy’s name and he’s flipping through sketches and a Life Magazine with a hydrogen bomb headline
  • He finds a shotgun and keeps it a secret.  Wonder if this will be the gun shooting at the skipping Losties in the water after they take the outriggers during one of the skips earlier in the season.
  • Looks like Flight 316 that the O6 (now O5 since Aaron didn’t return) were travelling on did in fact, crash.
  • And we know that there are "ones who disappeared."  My guess is that the plane crash is in current time – late 2007/early 2008, while the O5 were time warped off the plane.
  • And it looks like the plane crash site is on the smaller island, the one where Jack, Kate & Sawyer were held prisoner – it’s interesting that BOTH islands apparently stick together when moving.
  • Ilana - was the marshal that was escorting Sayid
  • The pilot and some woman left – hmmm… who is the woman that would have gone with LaPidas??  I can understand LaPidas knowing to go to the island.  Who went with him??   What is Sun didn’t time-warp off w/ the others b/c she didn’t do enough to recreate the original flight?
  • When we see Caesar again, it is clear he’s going through Dharma files.
  • Caesar shows Locke all the people who got hurt in the crash - Ben is totally one of the hurt guys.  He wouldn't have been able to get back w/ the others.  I love that he was basically rejected by the island!

Locke's past:

  • Locke left island and awakens in desert - Tunisia - same as Ben last season
  • The hospital tent is very interesting.  First off, Abaddon is there and then we can definitely see Nadia – Sayid’s dead wife in the shaky images.
  • And when he wakes up - Widmore is there!
  • Widmore is behind the camera pointed at Locke when he first woke up.  I don’t remember the camera’s presence when Ben showed up in the desert after leaving the island last season.  Yet Widmore seems to be aware that this is the exit point, probably from when he popped up there after Ben (allegedly) tricked him into leaving.  So, maybe it was there all along, and Widmore knows that Ben is off the island?
  • Widmore ruled the island peacefully for 3 decades.
  • Widmore questions Locke’s motivation for leaving the island and when he correctly guesses that it’s to bring them all back, he offers to help him.  Why?  Because there is a war coming.  Locke needs to be back on the island when the war happens or the wrong side will win.  GAH- who is the wrong side!?!?!?!?!
  • Widmore got him his alias of Jeremy Bentham, as well as cash and claims that he's not going to let Locke die
  • Abaddon is clearly Widmore-related, which I think we decided last season
  • First stop - Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic for Sayid
  • Sayid worked for Ben for 2 years, now he's all habitat for humanity - redeeming himself.   We still don’t know why he returned to California or how he managed to be present for the flight.  Grr.
  • NY, NY - to look for Walt, Walt looks right at him - so cool.  Walt has been dreaming about Locke.  He decided not to ask Walt to return.  Locke knows that he only needs to convince one to return and the rest will follow.
  • Locke wants to track down Helen.   I can’t help but feel that this is important because she comes up quite a few times.
  • Ben is in NY watching him.  Freaky.
  • Santa Rosa, CA - to see Hurley.  Hurley is awesome.  Hurley remembers Abaddon claiming to be from Oceanic
  • Abaddon tells Locke that he helps people get to where they need to get to - hence recommending Locke's walkabout during physical therapy after his fall from the hotel window.
  • LA, CA - Kate.  Locke tells her about Helen.  She thinks he’s just as crazy and obsessive as always.
  • Santa Monica, CA – Jack.  But first, we learn that Helen died of a brain aneurysm on 4/8/06.
  • Abaddon is gets shot up dead by… Ben?
  • Locke is in the hospital and of course Jack is his doctor.  Awesome.
  • I love when Locke tells him “Your father says hello” – I’m guessing that this was the key to getting Jack on board.  Christian knew that – which is why it was his parting comment to Locke.
  • Locke is about to hang himself when Ben comes in the room.  Ben claims to be keeping them safe.  Trying to protect Locke and the others.
  • Ben admits to killing Abaddon
  • Widmore came to you - he used you per Ben.  Widmore is the reason I moved the island so that Locke could lead
  • Jack booked a ticket - LA to Sydney, RT - Jack is the first - we already knew that.
  • Ben seems to be really shocked that Jin is alive.
  • Jack tells Ben about Eloise Hawking
  • HOLY CR*PBALLS!!!  Locke didn't commit suicide, Ben freaking killed him!!!
  • So, one of two things –
    • Ben wasn’t planning on killing Locke until Locke told him that information about Mrs. Hawking or,
    • Ben had to stop Locke from killing himself as suicide is an unforgivable mortal sin??  It had to be murder in order for Locke to “rise again” once he returned to the island
  • Ben took Jin's wedding band from Locke.
  • "I'll miss you John, I really will."  Was this sincere?

“316”

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I almost feel like this title should be the name of the next episode based on the previews… oh well.

I’m going to walk us through chronological order rather than do the bit at the beginning, only to pick it up again at the end.  You’ll see what I mean.

Present Day:

  • Mrs. Hawking expresses her disappointment for the poor O6 turnout.  She walks them through a "High Voltage" door, into the basement room w/ a giant pendulum.  There’s a board on the wall w/ latitudes and longitudes, flipping around and some bizarre flashing lights on the board.

  • This is the first Dharma's station we’ve seen off the island - "The Lamp Post", which is how Dharma found the island.  Wonder if there are other non-island stations.

  • If Eloise Hawking is really the Ellie we met in the 1950s in Jughead, she is definitely “Native” instead of “Dharma” – so I find it interesting that she’s in a Dharma station now.  It’s one thing for the “Natives” to have taken over the island Dharma stations after they gassed them all, but a different story to take over the non-island stations.

  • US Army Top Secret photo taken on 9/23/54 – quite possibly by the guys that put Jughead on the island.

  • The Lamp Post is stationed over a unique pocket of electromagnetic energy that communicates w/ other similar pockets – like the hatch.
  • “A clever fellow” built the pendulum in order to look for where the island was going to be.  This fellow presumed that the island was always moving - which is why they were never rescued.  This man and team created series of equations where the island will be at a certain point in time.   So, who do we think is the “clever fellow” – Widmore?  Hanso?
  • Desmond passes along his message about Daniel, to say that they need his help, that only SHE could help them.  She lets Des know that the island isn't done with him yet.

  • Des leaves, but not before telling Jack & Sun to ignore Mrs. Hawking

  • The binder has the flights that will go  - Ajira Airways is the flight they must take.  Note that Ajira Airways was the logo of the water bottles that the skipping Losties found in those outriggers at the skip that showed an abandoned beach camp and when they got shot at.

  • Crazy that they need to recreate the circumstances as best as possible - like getting as many of them back as possible.
  • Mrs. Hawking John Locke's suicide note to Jack.  Well, now we know how he died.  Locke hanged himself.  He is the first step in “recreating” the original circumstances as a proxy for Christian’s dead body.  Whoa.  That is bizarre.
  • Leap of Faith – I’m glad that someone finally said it.  This whole show is a giant Leap of Faith.

  • Ben ignores Jack’s questions about Mrs. Hawking and goes on to tell the Thomas the Apostle story, about not believing the resurrection, he had to touch the wounds to be convinced.  Jack still needs to be convinced.

  • Jack’s Granddad seems young.  It seems like a lot of effort just to get Jack something of Christian’s for Locke to wear.  Will there be more to it than that?

  • Kate has agreed to go.  I really, really, really hope that we get to see how she came to that decision.  And what she did with Aaron.  Do you think she went to Claire’s Mom and told her the whole story??  She’s likely still in town.  Squee – Jack and Kate got their groove back on!
  • Ben is in bad shape.  What the hell?
  • Best line:  “Wherever you are John, you must be laughing your *ss off.”
  • "My condolences" from guy behind him… wonder if this guy will end up on the island with them.

  • Sun showed.  Of course.
  • Sayid is there as a prisoner - kinda taking Kate's place with a Marshall and cuffs.   But he definitely seems shocked to see everyone there.  I wonder if Ben’s condition had anything to do w/ getting Sayid arrested and presumably extradited?  Like with Kate – I want the story of how he got there.

  • Hurley has a guitar b/c Charlie had a guitar – again – how is he there?  I love that he bought up all the remaining empty seats to save a few lives.

  • Jack is in seat 8C  - they brought him the suicide note… can’t get rid of it.

  • WHAT is Ben doing there?  How much will his presence mess things up?  He’s not supposed to be able to get back on the island… so I’m confused.

  • Ben is awesome and doesn’t care about the other people on the plane.

  • Frank Lapidas is the pilot.  Holy crapola.  Look how cleaned up he is - he looks so bizarre.  "We're not going to Guam, are we?"  Poor guy, I wonder if his knowledge of what is about to happen will help him survive.

  • Ben is reading Ulysses by James Joyce – here is what Wikipedia told me, I think it’s interesting given the general chaos of the show and the everlasting life in John 3:16:

Ulysses is divided into eighteen chapters or "episodes". At first glance much of the book may appear unstructured and chaotic; Joyce once said that he'd "put in so many enigmas and puzzles that it will keep the professors busy for centuries arguing over what I meant" in order to attain "immortality”

  • Ben didn't know about the suicide.  (yeah right)  Ben gives Jack privacy - and I'm sure he's up to something…

  • The suicide note - "Jack, I wish you had believed me -- JL"  - ouch.
  • Plane starts to go through turbulence and then there is the bizarre white light – quite a bit different that the original crash on the island.  It makes me wonder if there is actually a crash – or if just our Losties will time jump over onto the island, joining the ones they left behind and leaving empty seats in the plane that may or may not crash.

Island Time:

  • So, technically this was the show opener – I think purely to show Jack’s eye opening and recreating the series premiere.
  • Jack wakes up and appears disoriented; he hears Hurley yelling for help and dives headfirst into the lagoon.  Headfirst??  Seriously?

  • Kate’s okay – but where are Sayid, Sun and Ben?

  • They don’t have a memory of crashing… which makes me think they may have just been transported through time to the island rather than arrive via crash landing.
  • Clearly, we’re in the 70s – just as suspected!  And it’s Jin who finds them, he's working for Dharma in the 70s.  SOOOO COOL!!!
  • Jon commented last week that he believed Locke’s departure from the island helped stabilize the Losties from continuing to skip – their last destination must have been in the 70s and have somehow hooked up with Dharma.  Again, I want that story

So – in summary, I thought this episode was freaking awesome.  I think that the next several episodes will likely deal with filling in some of the gaps.  We could tell from the previews that we’re going to see Locke’s attempts to get the O6 to return.  I hope that we’ll get to see how each one decided to return (or forced as may be the case with Sayid), as well as what happened when Juliet, Sawyer, Jin and Dan did when they encountered Dharma for the first time.

"This Place is Death"

Present Day:

  • Ji Yeon is adorable.
  • So, they’re all together for about 2 seconds before Kate takes off with Aaron and Sayid bolts.  He threatened Jack!!!   I can’t wait to see how they’re going to all end up back on the island.

  • I loved when Ben said that he’s been helping the Losties and that they’d be thanking him if they knew all he’s done.  I kinda believe him.
  • Ben sought out Locke when he left the island.
  • Ben lets everyone know that the remaining guys on the island need their help and Sun agrees to go back.
  • Desmond’s totally there – duh!  High fives all around for Eloise Hawking being Dan’s mom!!!

Island Time:

  • Did you catch that the “numbers” were transmitting?  Granted, we already knew that from when we first met Danielle – but it was still a cool little nugget
  • Danielle’s conversation with Robert over baby-naming was very reminiscent of the conversation that Jin and Sun had on the island over Ji Yeon’s name.
  • Nadine goes missing, Smokey is coming, she’s killed by Smokey.  The whole Smokey thing is still so freaking bizarre.  And when it basically caused that one guy’s arm to be ripped off – ew.
  • Those dudes are total morons for going into that hole.  Seriously.

**

  • That arm isn’t severely decomposed, so we’re not that far into the future.
  • And we get to see Danielle kill her team – which she also told us about when we first met her.
  • Robert called the monster a security system for the temple.  We’ve heard smokey called a security system before – but this is the first of “Temple” talk.   I propose that the “Temple” is not Dharma related, but native to the island.
  • Robert was a scary dude, all sweet talking Danielle, only to turn on her.
  • Given that Danielle watched Jin disappear twice – she had to have recognized him when she first saw him on the island in 2004.

**

  • Yea!  Jin is reunited with everyone!!  Big hugs all around.

  • Dan doesn’t understand how bringing the O6 back will cause the temporal shifts to stop.
  • It’s clear that the skips are becoming more painful

  • Add Sawyer to the list of bleeders.  I’m now thinking that Dan has never been to the island since he has still yet to bleed.  Either that, or his genealogy somehow makes him a bit immune to the impact???
  • Charlotte’s mind is definitely moving around a little bit.  Nice nugget when she said she loves Geronimo Jackson (the album that Hurley and Charlie listened to during the early hatch days)

  • Yet she’s coherent enough to send them to the well.  I wonder what is so special about this well… and how it relates to the wheel in the middle of the earth.
  • Charlotte’s memories of her time on the island return – and while we already know that our Losties will be skipping to the 70s thanks to the season opener, it sounds like they might be spending a sizable amount of time in this time period.  We already know that Dan is going to be there long enough to appear to be part of the construction crew… and I swear that Sawyer is filming the orientation video.  And now we know that Dan met a young Charlotte and attempted to change the future – even though he knows the “time is a street” theory and that any attempts he made were futile.  Poor guy.
  • I wonder if Charlotte’s paternity will be important?  Sounds like her Mom left with her to get her away from Dharma and the island.  Did the Dad stay behind?  Hmmmm…

  • Locke starts the climb down the well.  Jin makes him promise not to bring Sun back.  That’ll work.

**

  • Locke falls when time skips again.  The rope is now buried in the ground.  Bizarre.  I’m guessing that it put them in a time before the well was dug since there didn’t appear to be any remnants of the Orchid station either.  But I suppose it’s possible that they skipped far enough into the future that all evidence of the structures could be gone.
  • Christian shows up again as a guide.  Again, I’m wondering about the “guide” element.  Last season, we saw Christian, Claire and Charlie acting as guides.  Both Christian and Charlie were trying to get O6ers back, but Claire told Kate to NOT bring Aaron back.  I’m still confused by this…

  • Apparently, Ben moving the island was the issue… I wonder if things would be different had Locke moved it according to Christian’s instructions.  I wonder if Ben somehow knew that he was defying the instructions by becoming the martyr in the situation.  And that it wasn’t quite the sacrifice he made it seem.  Then again, he’s working awfully hard to get the O6ers back, so I’m inclined to think that his motivations were pure… but who knows.

  • Christian’s parting words, “Say hello to my son.”  I didn’t realize that Locke had no idea that he’s been conversing w/ Jack’s Dad.

Wednesday, 2/4/09!

First of all - not sure how many of you are viewing the "enhanced" episodes, but my brother Joel just watched the one for "The Lie", and he let me know that the fancy box told him that Mrs. Hawking's first name is Eloise.

Interesting thing #1 - Dan's rat in the maze when Desmond's mind was jumping last season, was named Eloise.  Interesting thing #2 - The young woman we met in Jughead with the gun was named, "Ellie"- possible nickname???  Granted, Dan talked to Ellie quite a bit in front of Jughead and gave no indication that he knew her or that she was possibly his mom.  But who knows, he's the most knowledgable about the whole time is a street concept - so maybe he knows that he shouldn't confess to this teenage girl that someday, she will be his mom.

Also, I watched a bit of the enhanced Jughead yesterday and learned that there is a term for what is happening to Charlotte and now some more - Temporal Displacement.

On to the show...

"The Little Prince"

From Wikipedia - Though ostensibly a children's book, The Little Prince makes several profound and idealistic points about life and human nature. Saint-Exupéry tells of meeting a young prince in the middle of the Sahara. The essence of the book is contained in the famous lines uttered by the fox to the Little Prince: "On ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." (One cannot see well except with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes). Other key thematic messages are articulated by the fox, such as: "You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed" and "It is the time you have spent with your rose that makes your rose so important."

Right after Leaving:

  • I don't know why, but I wasn't really expecting that the story of Aaron being Kate's son was Kate's idea.  I just assumed that it was a group decision to protect everyone on the island and that she was the only canidate for the job.  It makes me happy to know that she WANTED the responsibility.

  • I loved when Kate told Jack, "I've always been with you."

Present Day:
  • I do not trust Sun.  She is not the same woman.  She is creepy.  I would not have left my son with her.

  • Her package of pictures and chocolates and gun adds to the creepy factor.

  • So, Sun convinced Kate to go try to talk to the lawyer.  I think this is just a ridiculous move - of course he's not going to tell her anything.  And then when he points out that she has no leverage - it's like, "DUH Kate, what did you think?"   But, I realize it was really just a ploy for Kate to know that he was going to be seeing his client so she could follow him.

  • We learned that Jack was officially suspended for substance abuse... we may have already known this?

  • Sayid was out on tranquilizers for 42 hours.

  • Sayid continues to be awesome when he instinctively knows that guy is there to tranq him up.  The fact this guy is carrrying around Kate's address is creepy.  Kate's address is 42 Panorama.

  • Ben instructs Jack to meet at Slip 23

  • Kate confides in Jack that someone is after Aaron.

  • Norton is just all over the place in his representation of losties/others/family.  He's helping Claire's Mom sue Oceanic, he's making sure that there is no case against Hurley so they can get him out of jail and he's harrassing Kate over Aaron.  Of course he's working for Ben as one of the many "others on the outside" (like Jill the Butcher).

  • I was confused that Jack took Kate to the marina slip without picking up Aaron first.  Oh well, he's there since crazy Sun is there w/ her gun.  All they need is Hurley and they're ready to return.

  • I honestly don't think that Ben wants Aaron specifically - it's all just a manipulation game to freak Kate out to make her an easier sell to return to the island.

Island:

  • Locke wants to return to the Orchid - the Orchid is the station that Ben and Locke were in during the finale last season - the one that enabled Ben to leave the island.

  • Charlotte not recognizing Dan right away after being out for 10 minutes was concerning.  I wonder how much longer she has to live?

  • Locke informs Sawyer that he needs to bring back the O6.  Sawyer asks him how he's going to work that out.  I wonder if Sawyer will try to give Locke some information about Kate that could be persuasive?  Granted, it doesn't work since she is still quite adamant about NOT returning to the island.

  • Oh - the strange light, which we all knew was the hatch before they spelled it out for us.  This was definitely an interesting night for them to skip to as it was a life (Aaron) and death (Boone) day.  Don't know whether that is important for "when" they land when skipping... maybe it was just picked to show us a) Sawyer's love for Kate and/or b) Kate's initial bond with Aaron that helps support her decision to become his mother.

  • Great - Niles is bleeding now.

**
  • Dan indicates that the impact of the Temporal Displacement is related to the duration that someone has spent on the island.  We already suspected that Charlotte and Miles were born on the island.  As the next to show symptoms is Juliet, and she has been there for 3 years, presumably, Charlotte and Miles each lived on the island for more than 3 years.  And Dan, if he was born on the island, he was less than 3 when he left.

  • The camp is back, but completely destroyed and there are outrigger canoes on the beach with Ajira water bottles - airline from India - WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?!?!

  • They take the outrigger since the Zodiac is missing... wonder where it went?  If it matters?

  • Another outriggers is gaining on them and shooting?!  WTH is going on???  Juliet fires back and it looks like she hit someone.

  • My whacked-out theory: I think it would be interesting if our O6 are the ones that return via outrigger canoes via Ajira Airlines.  And that they're shooting at their friend w/o even realizing it.  And that Juliet just shot one of her own friends, possibly Jack.

  • They skip - as Sawyer yells out, "Thank you Lord".
**
  • It's raining - and Sawyer says, "I take that back"  :-)

  • Sawyer confides in Juliet and tells her that he saw Kate delivering Claire's baby.  Something is totally going to happen between these two.

  • Juliet is bleeding now.

  • Found wreckage in French - hmmm, 16 years ago??  1988.

  • Oh look, it's a bunch of French people.  And they freaking pull JIN out of the water!?!?!  How the heck he has survived the last few hours out in the water on a bit of blown up frieghter is beyond me and I'm shocked that he was in the "radius" to be skipping with the rest of our losties.  I'm guessing that only a few hours have passed for our skipping losties since the island started skipping, but I guess I don't really know.  I know we've seen daylight and nighttime, but they haven't really taken a break to nap or anything.  So, I think it is still the same day for them, regardless of what year they're in. Confusing?!  Yup.

  • Look how sweet and nice Danielle is:-)  Jin is so confused.  I love it!  Makes me want to go back and watch when Rosseau first started talking to the Losties, did she recognize Jin?  She was pretty crazy by then, so doubtful.

Wednesday, 1/28/09!

"Jughead"

Shortly after leaving Island:
  • Penny and Desmond did not waste any time getting their baby on.  Clearly living on a boat.
Current Time:
  • Wow - maybe they're still living on a boat?  Maybe to stay on the move and away from Charles?
  • No record of Farraday?  That's shady.
  • Desmond finds his old lab - but why the pretense of the fumigation warning?  If they were continuing his work or research - I could understand, but they have only boarded it up with sheets on everything.  So... does that mean that either they expect him to return or for someone else to eventually pick up where he left off?
  • "After what he did to that poor girl" - back to Teresa Spencer.
  • So, we meet Abigail and Teresa Spencer.  Teresa appears to be a bit of a vegetable - but Abigail explains that sometimes she IS there.  So, I think it's safe to assume that Teresa's mind is time traveling.
  • So interesting to learn that Widmore has been funding Daniel's research for ages.  And funding Teresa's care.
  • I think Desmond's decision to visit Widmore was quite reckless.  However, I was impressed that Widmore asked him to keep Penny away from the island business.  Previously, I felt like Widmore's feelings for Penny were lukewarm at best.  Maybe he actually cares about her.  I wonder if he has considered Ben's potential for revenge - daughter for a daughter?
  • Dan's mom is in L.A. and won't be pleased to see Desmond.  Again, we know Mrs. Hawking is in L.A. since Ben met w/ her last week.  And she probably won't be pleased to see Desmond b/c she previously instructed him to go to that island, presumably to stay... and he's clearly not there anymore.
  • AHHH, everyone comment on how cute it is that Desmond named his son Charlie.
Island Time - 1954 for most of the episode:

  • So, initially I was wondering how Dan knew so much about the symptoms that Charlotte was experiencing.  Since we only knew about his mice research, how could he know about double vision?  That question was answered by the end of the show... Teresa Spencer.  I couldn't totally tell, but I think that Teresa was the same woman in the photo with Dan.  Girlfriend?
  • Same peeps who jumped Sawyer and Juliet descended on this group.
  • "You just couldn't stay away, could you?" - I wonder if Ellie was directing this specifically to Dan, or just the military in general (since she thinks they're military).
  • Dan admits to loving Charlotte.  Duh.
  • All Others speak Latin.  Good to know.  I can say, "Ubi est fenestra" and someone will respond.
  • Miles detects the dead US soldiers.
  • Richard is of course, the same age.
  • Jones kills Cunningham - ruthless.
  • The Jughead bomb is freaking HUGE.  I am kinda surprised that this is the source for the title of the episode.  I'm not sure if I understand why that is???  Why?  Is it to let us know that there is a bomb buried on the island in the present that may come to play?  Is it the vehicle by which the Others believe our guys?  Not like it matters since they bounce again...
  • Locke's interaction with Richard was fascinating, telling him that he was sent by Jacob.  Having Richard give him a certain degree of trust immediately, but yet he's still not willing to tell him how to get off the island.
  • Jones is CHARLES WIDMORE!!!  I think we knew that Widmore was trying to get back to the island.  I'm fairly certain we heard Ben use those words.  What I find interesting about this is that Widmore was clearly on the same side as Richard in 1954.  But by the time we get to 2004 (time of crash), Richard is tight with Ben... Widmore's rival.  So, what exactly happened?  We've seen Richard drop his allegiance to Ben in a way to transfer control to Locke, but Ben wasn't banished or anything.  Right?  So, what did Widmore do to get ousted?  There was definitely some friction between him and Richard.
  • Locke doesn't get his information before skipping again... and now Charlotte is really bleeding all over the freaking place.  Will she start skipping?  Or just bleed out?

Wednesday, 1/21/09!

Okay, I'm done with "flashforwards."  What was once a flashforward is now "Present Day".  Island time will be "Island", because who knows when they'll eventually end up.  Of course, I think that the '70s is a very likely ending spot for the skipping record.  If they ever stop skipping, because maybe they’ll keep skipping until the O6 returns.

"Because You Left"

Island Time:
  • We start out at 8:15am in the '70s with Dr. Pierre Chang / Dr. Marvin Candle of the orientation videos.  I don't know about anyone else, but the cameraman looked quite a bit like Sawyer!
  • The image that the contruction crew took of the rock ALREADY had the wheel in it!?!  That was some freaky stuff.
  • Chang emphasizes the "RULES"
  • And once we saw Daniel there, I really wouldn't be surprised if the record stopped skipping in the '70s and that our Losties have worked their way into the Dharma society somehow.  Or maybe they will become natives/hostiles.

**

  • Locke ending up alone after the first skip was super trippy.  I don't understand why Richard and his crew are staying in their proper time - but that Locke and the rest of the Losties are moving.  Especially considering that Juliet is moving.  I suppose it could be because she had "defected" from the Others??
  • Glad that Dan's boat was in the radius of the island's power.
  • I'm happy that they skipped with a shirtless Sawyer.  :-)
  • Dan explains that they are dislodged from time.  "We're moving - your people are not."  Again, why is Juliet with the Losties?
  • Locke sees the drug plane crash - the crash was in the late '90s.  Totally trippy.  For a second, I thought that he was going to climb up there and somehow get the plane to crash down - which would result in a Boone that was still alive since he wouldn't have been able to crash down in it in 2004 if it was already on the ground.  But that didn't happen.  I'm kinda glad b/c then this show would be even more difficult to follow.  :-)
  • I wonder if Ethan remembered this encounter when Oceanic815 crashed in 2004.

**

  • Dan explains that they can't change time.  Time is like a street - can move forward and back - but cannot make a new street.  But I wonder if somehow, our Losties are going to manage to make a new street.  "We can't stop it."  "Then who can?"  Cue to Locke...
  • Richard showing up to tend to Locke's bullet wound was freaking awesome.  Helped explain that Locke will keep bouncing, gives him the compass, has to get everyone back, has to let himself die.  Huh?  And that the next time he sees Richard - Richard won't know him - again, the '70s??  The sound effects for the bullet removal were seriously nasty.
  • "What comes around goes around" - hilarious.

**

  • Hatch is back, Sawyer is still shirtless.
  • Charlotte's nose is bleeding - and while what these guys are doing is different than what happened to Des and Minkowski - I think it's clear that the brain is impacted the same way.
  • Dan sees something in his journal that convinces him to go try to get Desmond to open the door... does anyone remember from last season that Desmond recognized Dan when they first arrived??  I don't remember.  I know that Dan considers Desmond his constant and that it is written in the journal - maybe that was what he saw.
  • Dan tells Desmond that he is special.  Is it similar to how Richard is special in that he isn't skipping?  Or something different?
  • Delivers a message that everyone is in trouble.  Go to Oxford.  Find Dan's mom.  I suspect that his mom is Mrs. Hawking.

Present Day:

  • Poor Jack, "They're not my friends anymore" - HOW, "Because you left" - that's guilt.  Manipulative guilt.
  • It's weird that Locke needs to go back to the island.  I'm thinking that if he can get back to the island, his life might be restored.
  • Dan Norton of Agostini & Norton - after blood samples.  Someone is trying to scare our O6.  Especially because neither one of those guys looked like they came prepared to take blood samples.  I wonder what they would have really done had they gotten into Kate's house.
  • Ben's order for collecting the O6 - Hurley, Sun, Sayid & Kate.  I don't know if this order is pertinent.
  • Locke tells him that they all die if he doesn't come back.
  • Sun in present day is very cold and scary... and completely different.  Whidmore had her flagged by airport security.  This makes me think that Whidmore is VERY involved with Oceanic Airlines.  Silent owner?  Or something.  Maybe he had to buy it up in order to fake the crash in '04.
  • I figured that their "common interest" from last season finale was to see Ben dead.
  • Hurley, "I need a cool code name" was hilarious.  I hope they explain why Locke had to go by Jeremy Bentham.  It's one thing for that name to be on his passport or something, but I really don't understand why the people who knew him called him by this alias.
  • Paranoid Sayid is hot.  His advice to Hurley about doing the opposite of whatever Ben asks is certainly going to have a immediate impact on the
  • I love when he's a bad*ss.  And then he goes and gets shot with a freaking dart but still slams that body into the dishwasher knives.  Damn.
  • Desmond and Penny are wearing wedding bands - and it's freaky how he gets a new memory.

"The Lie"

Day they Left:

  • I couldn't tell what kind of beer Lapidas pulled out of the fridge - but they definitely had a skull on the label.  Which is just creepy.
  • Hurley is adamant about not wanting to lie.  He issues quite a threat to Sayid.  It appears to be an empty threat.

Island Time

  • Frogurt the red shirt.  I predict bad things will happen to him... never wear a red shirt.
  • Dan was gone for 2 hours?  Then says something about charting a new course.
  • Miles goes off for food.  Creepy, because he can hear dead things.  And yup - he found a dead animal.
  • Charlotte is getting worse.  Her memories are being impacted.  She knows that Dan knows what is going on with her.
  • What is up with the fire arrows?  How many of our 48 survivors just got taken out?
  • The jumpsuits worn by the guys that grabbed Sawyer and Juliet did not appear to have Dharma logos.  But one of the guys is named "Jones".  Dharma jumpsuits had first names on them and then the "position" under it - remember "Roger Work Man"?
  • Jones seems to have a bit of an accent.
  • Locke saves them.  Nice timing!
  • I totally want Sawyer and Juliet to get it on.

Present Day

  • Hurley gets pulled over and I say outloud, "Ten bucks it's Ana Lucia."  So freaky.  First she tells him "he has work to do" - our ghosts have a way of always saying that.  She gives him a couple of orders: a) get new clothes, b) get to a safe place, c) get Sayid to a safe place, and d) don't get arrested.  I think he accomplishes one of these things.
  • The song playing in the gas station is Cheap Trick's "Dream Police."  Lyrics we heard: "Cause they're waiting for me / They're looking for me / Every single night they're driving me insane / Those men inside my brain."
  • Crazy that just as Hurley pulls out of the gas station, Kate pulls into it.   She almost calls Jack and then she gets the call from Sun.  All coming together.
  • Ben tells Jack to pack a bag of everything he wants from this life, "You're never coming back" - Jack "Good"
  • Ben has a very "maybe not pause" following the "John's dead" comment.
  • Hurley's dad is watching "Expose" - that cheesy show that Nikki was on - it might even be the episode that killed her off.
  • Seriously Hurley? Person you trust is your DAD?  Safe place is your HOUSE?  REALLY?
  • Kate & Aaron go to see Sun.  I'm totally shocked that they haven't seen each other.  I know that Kate is under "state-arrest" or whatever, but still.  I'm shocked that Sun hasn't come for a visit.  And they didn't hug.  See... she's cold.
  • Jill the Butcher.  Things from their conversation that I don't understand - Gabriel & Jeffrey have checked in?  They've been through a lot?  Defending Jack?  "He'll be safe with me."  If she fails - everything they do, won't matter at all.   Confusing.
  • The fact that Sun has to tell Kate Ji Yeon's name is so bizarre.  Cold Sun.
  • They want Aaron.  ?
  • Sun doesn't blame Kate... but then turns cold again and asks about Jack.  Last season, Sun said she blamed 2 people for Jin's death.  I think it's safe to say that Ben is one of them and now I'm thinking that Jack is the other.  Creeps me out.
  • Hurley's Dad wants Jack to stay away from Hurley.
  • Jack trusts Ben too much.  He should not have called Ben to tell him about Sayid.
  • As Hurley is telling his Mom the truth - I couldn't help but feel like I don't trust her.  Like Whidmore is using his parents to get information.
  • "He does crazy ninja moves and spy stuff" ---hahahaha
  • Sayid is immediately concerned for Hurley.
  • Hurley throwing that Hot Pocket at Ben was freaking awesome.
  • Hurley follows Sayid's advice and does the opposite of what Ben asks... but at the same time, he does exactly what Ana Lucia told him not to do.  Get arrested.  And then he looks totally crazy.
  • Mrs. Hawking is working on some crazy formulas and stuff.... she HAS to be Dan's Mom.
  • So, I'm totally expecting Desmond to show up.  But it's BEN!  Ben goes to see Mrs. Hawking!!!  SO COOL!!!  If you don't remember - she's the one that told Desmond that he had to go to the island.  Specifically, back then she told him that "all of us will be gone" if he doesn't go
  • She tells him that he only has 70 hours.  Til what?  The brains fry of the skippers?
